Me and my boyfriend travelling next September 2014, looking into getting a car I have got a price from Thomas Cook so they can add it onto our booking and they have come back to me with a price of £260. DBF will be 22 when there so this seems really cheap to me as the U25 surcharge?
Can anyone tell me if this will be all in car and insurance?
Also is there a sat nav in most of the cars?
Thank you
Beth :-)

I've just rung back as I thought that was really cheap and they told me when we pick car up we can get charged anything for $8 a day.

Does anyone think this is worth it?

What was the £260 for?

It sounds like you are going to have to pay an additional $8 a day on collection as well.

You will either need to hire or buy a sat nav if you want one as they do not come as standard in hire cars.

Most your dates and car type and I will find you some prices to compare however bear in mind most car hire deals are usually closer to your travel dates.

It sounded like the 260 was for the car hire and then she said we will have a surcharge when we collect but unable to know exact figures until we book?

Which I'm a little weiry about as I don't want to get there and be landed with a big bill right at the start of our dream holiday!

Do any companys do this with the surcharge included or are they all the same?

Most package holidays include a "free car" but you have to pay extra for insurance.

Some of the brokers do under 25 packages - post your dates and I will have a look for you to get prices.

TBH it can be done without a car - me & DH (then DBF) did it when I was 19 & he was 22 - however it is much more enjoyable with a car and we would never dream of not having a car now. We used the hotel shuttles which were free to Disney and then got a taxi to US. Used VH transfers to and from the airport and walked to local restaurants to eat. The only thing was we did miss stuff as we were restricted by the shuttle times. The only thing I would say we both knew this wouldn't be a once in a lifetime trip and both of us had been before so we knew a bit (this was years ago so before the Dis even existed :rotfl: )

We will be landing at Orlando Internation on the 16th September 2014 and flying home on the 1st October 2014.

As we know this will be a once in a lifetime holiday or for a long long time as we will be hoping to get a mortgage after Florida, therefore we are putting everything into this trip :-)

We have decided to look into getting a car as we both would love to go to maybe Clearwater beach or towards the coast, we also like the idea of being able to drive somewhere when we want and not have to rely on the shuttles. (late night shopping as I love to shop!)

Thanks for your help its really appreciated :-)

I have had a look today and was going to post that you want to look at Sixt - they have no younger driver surcharges if you collect from Orlando.

Everywhere else was about £200 more expensive.

The total price I was getting for the smallest car was £250. If you save £60 for transfers its only going to cost you £190 for the 2 weeks :thumbsup2

If you go through Quidco you can also get 8% cashback which would be another £20 saved!

You can rent sat nav from ebay quite cheap , I think it's only about £20 for two week . Not done it myself but know people on here have and not had a problem . We have just come back from our first trip and wouldn't of liked not to of had a sat nav . Also make sure when traveling around to keep some spare change for any un manned tolls on,y came across a couple on our travels .
