The last time we stayed at POR, about three years ago, we discovered - too late, since it was the last day of our stay - that they offered a package at the POR marina, I think it was called the Captain's Plan. Essentially, you paid about $200 for the week, and that gave everyone in your room unlimited rental of Mouseboats, canopy boats, surrey bikes, etc for the entire week.

It's all my kids have talked about for three years, how we missed out on that. We're booked there this falll - anyone know if the "Captain's Plan" or something similar still exists?

I emailed Disney to ask the same question! I will let you know what they say. ;)

This is the response I got from Disney:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World. Resort.

The 2 plans you mentioned are available at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. (The family plan and the CAptains plan)

You are correct, this is a real money saver for families that like to take advantage of this type of
recreation.

Wishing you a magical day!

excellent!! any idea what kind of pricing there is on this plan? we've got 2 down days planned at the resort :)

I overheard a CM explaining it to a family when I was there over Spring Break this year but I didn't catch the prices. I DO remember thinking "huh, wow that's pretty reasonable". I'm a single mom so it's not like I'm rolling in the dough so if I think "huh pretty reasonable" it's not too much money. I remember also thinking it wasn't that much more than our one Wishes Cruise which was $150, to me quite a bit of cash, but sooo worth it. They have brochures at the resorts. You might be able to call the resort during day time hours and ask for the marina or maybe the guest services CMs at the resort would know. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Have fun! :boat:

Thanks for posting about this! We rented the surrey bikes and sea racers earlier in the month. We are planning a 10 night stay for next summer and this will be one more thing to save for.

At the YC the Captain's Plan is for 4 hours of boat rental (any kind) for $130 or the Family Plan which is unlimited use of boats (any kind) for up to 5 people for a max of 10 days for $249.

That sounds like a good deal...does anyone know if the Polynesian has anything similar??? :sunny:

I would guess that the Poly would have something like this. CBR had it 3 years ago when we were there. It wasn't posted in the newspaper but it was posted at the marina.

We have done the family plan, and plan to again in October. My 2 ds,15 would rather do this than the parks. The price I was quoted was $260 for the length of stay, up to 5 people. It is unlimited uses, but 1 hour at a time. However after your hour you can go out again if no one else is waiting. This is available at the EPCOT resorts and at POR/FQ and at these resorts drivers must be over 5' tall. At Magic Kingdom resorts, the plan is the same but drivers must have a valid drivers license.

We did it in June 2004 and no one said we had to come back in an hour. We were at the WL they put us in the boats and said have fun!

can you spread the 4 hours out over the course of a few days?

Does anyone know if one adult and two small children would be allowed in one boat? If that was okay I would jump on the Captains plan.

Now I am getting very excited about this!

FYI: I heard the cm at the CSR marina tell someone that the sea racers only go about 5 mph there because of the small lake. He told him that they go 20 mph at the MK resorts. My husband was shocked that they were only going 5 mph he said it felt like much faster.

YES you can :sunny:

excellent!! we've never rented in the Downtown Disney area--I think that will be fun! Probably not as fun as the MK resort area, LOL...but it sounds like my oldest will be able to take a mouse boat out alone, which he will LOVE :)

We've never rented them in the Downtown Disney Area either. I think it willl be a more relaxing ride instead of exciting and fast paced as MK area!!! :sunny:
