Captain EO coming to Disney World?

I don't think it will reach that far. I know HISTA is not gathering the crowds it used to (and it is aging), but I don't see WDW going back to Captain EO. I think it makes more sense to be at Disneyland and I really don't see them bringing it back to WDW and beyond, especially since it is so dated. Captain EO is not the answer to replace HISTA in my opinion (which the OP did not infer, but I am ranting anyway)!

I wish Captain EO would come back, HISTA has been there way to long!

I prefer Captain EO myself but there has been no indication its coming to WDW

is Disney crazy to even think about bringing this back? Good or not the controversial reports just released from the FBI about Jackson and young boys should be enough for them not to do it. There is still tooooo much smoke and where there is smoke ther is fire. I am appalled to thnk they would even go there again...

I'll admit that I don't follow celebrity gossip news, but it has been hard to avoid the allegations against Michael Jackson over the years and the news about Jackson's behavior. He was clearly an unconventional man.

However, I don't think it's fair to assert that "where there is smoke there is fire."

Sometimes there is only smoke.

The FBI document, in particular, shows that the FBI put an enormous amount of effort into investigating allegations, but did not uncover anything that could support criminal charges.

Exactly. He was a bizarre "dude" but he was also found not guilty.

I could see it in Tokyo quite easily. In todays time Jacko was way more popular there than in the states.

I could do some EO nostalgia for a year or two, and then a whole refurb of the pavilion with a new Imag ride featuring Figment and Maybe a Figment 3D movie. I'd love them to bring back the Dreamfinder too.

Celebrity endorsers always have personal problems. Look at Rock n Roller coaster. Steven Tyler has been arrested several times for drug abuse. Has Disney ever thought about removing the Aerosmith connection to the ride. Nope. Ellen DeGenerous is a controversial figure, with her lifestyle. Is her Energy Adventure closed? Nope.

Didn't Energy Adventure open AFTER she came out? And I know Steven Tylers drug and alcohol abuse was public BEFORE RNRC opened.

Besides, Drug and alcohol abuse are not really taboo anymore and do really think Disney is going to pick a side on anything Gay? They either tick off a huge portion of their fanbase and employees if they come out anti-gay rights or they tick off a huge portion of their fanbase and have the baptists protesting again if they come out in favor. They play Switzerland, smartly, on this issue and so while people grumble, no gets too upset. Ellen is a none issue.

It is interesting though that Jacko still retains a lot of his former celebrity, while OJ, who also was not convicted, was a pariah. Its funny how the public views things like that.

Yes because its just Baptist that have a problem with homosexuality. Almost all sects of Religion that follow the Bible have some form of problem with homosexuality. Some people are a little more fanatic with the way they express themselves and some people are just over the top awful. However they don't represent every Baptist in the World nor the majority. There will always be subjects the world is split on and that's just the way things are.

OJ was mainly popular in the sports realm of things. Even with his appearances in the "Naked Gun" movies he never reached close to the status of Micheal Jackson who took the world by storm in the 80's. So I think one reason Jackson maintained more status is he had a lot more to give than OJ ever did. OJ had several things working against him at the time and I won't go into all that cause this isn't the place for that and I don't want to get anymore off subject than I already have...

I would love to see Captain Eo again. :3dglasses
Although it might be one of those movies that was wicked cool only to be sadly disapointed as an adult. Neverending Story for example.
