I keep forgetting to check in over here.....great job Kristina

How's the rest of the recovery going?

it's going slowly....

I've got seven little incisions (about 1"or so long) that i've named after the dwarfs....

Grumpy was giving me trouble yesterday.... Bashful gets rubbed by my bra.

All in all i'm glad i have three weeks off to recover.

i so am getting cabin fever from being home all day.

Still have to get our taxes done....So that's something to do.

Trying to keep the laundry going... but i can't move it around much without help.

When you can't eat or drink more than 3 oz at a time it makes it hard to eat anything.

Hi fellow wenches (and scabbies)!

I finally made it back to the gym yesterday and I really ache today.

I was injured on our Jan13 Western and couldn't really work out while it healed. (Well, I could walk, but it is hard to get myself out to the gym just to walk on the treadmill...) It was a stupid thing, but I managed to really bruise up my arm something fierce! (We were snorkeling at Cozumel and I managed to get my arm tangled in a rope just as I was jumping into the water.) Fortunately, it wasn't broken and there were only some minor muscle tears - but a lot of bruising and "damaged tissue". I was getting pretty much back to normal last weekend and then had to take DS7 roller skating. Since it was his first time and I am an ice skater NOT roller skater, I ended up with several new bruises and aching muscles from that! BUT, I did finally make it to the gym and did a fairly complete workout :cool1:

My goal is to get back to going twice per week. On the positive side, I weighed myself there and although I didn't lose anything I didn't gain anything either over the cruise and skipping the gym for a month.

BEST WISHES to everyone else. Good luck with the diets & excersize.

pdarrah (Pamela)

I sure hope so! :rotfl2: Isn't it frustrating? I have gone weeks eating under 1300 calories a day and going to the gym and walking and so on and then you lose nothing  I actually got so annoyed at one point I threw out my scale! Since I now know how incredibly slow it is - I only weigh myself once a month or so and try not to "expect" anything...

Good luck to all you other wenches!

pdarrah (Pamela)

I can relate.
It really is better to not weigh daily, however- I'm not the type that can do that! When I was on the diet, I weighed daily. HOWEVER, it is also good to measure lots of areas of your body (like weekly or so) because lots of times I didn't lose weight everyday but I lost tons of inches that week (all total from all the areas) and it was a great motivator to keep me on track even when the scale wasn't moving much at all.

I'm still not on my diet. I'm so bad! Atleast I have still cut out the soda and drinking lots of water. Just doing that I have lost a few lbs but I'm still eating high carb and junk foods and such. Not much, I mean I'm not pigging out or anything- but when I eat... I'm just eating normal high carb dinners and junk food occasionally (like supreme pizzas- atleast there's veggies on there right? LOL Justification stinks doesn't it... it sabatoges diets!) I'll get on it soon, good thing I have lots of time before the cruise eh?

Congrats to all those doing so great!

Hey BIP, you're doing great with keeping the sodas out and the water in. Just take baby steps. What's one thing you can start doing now before you go full blown into the diet? Do you eat a bedtime snack? Maybe cut that out? How about cutting out candy but not cutting all sweets? Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables? You could try making sure you eat an apple a day? Just trying to get some ideas out there. Oh, maybe not even address the food yet. How about exercise, are you doing any? If nothing at all, just add 1 day of walking?

As for me, I'm down another 2 lbs. I got a few days of exercise in last week and it paid off. Even though I broke down and had fast food over the weekend. So I'm seeing slow but steady progress.

Hey everyone - did a weigh-in the other day and actually gained several pounds. A little discouraging in light of how well I had been doing but I refuse to give up - it actually motivated me to get back on tract with the eating and exercise plans. I'm going to try and hit the gym tomorrow and get a good cardio workout in. For me it is key to get at least 2 1 hour sessions and 2 1/2 hour sessions in addition to weight training 2 or more days a week, done in order to keep losing the weight. Because tomorrow will be without the trainer it will be an hour of cardio and an upper body workout.

Hi everyone!
I saw the Dr Thurs and was really depressed to see what my weight really is. Soooo, it's back to getting up earlier in the am and instead of catching up with the thread try to get at least 1/2 hr of walking and try to cut out all the good stuff.Sitting at a desk 10 hrs is tough. It's a sedentary lifestyle which gets me in the end. I've been so stressed waiting to hear the results of DHs mri and thankfully we have another clean one. Then we start this all over in 4 months.
Well need to clean up and pick up after the grankids. They were really tough today and I'm sure their room is shot.

Hi everyone. Checking in here to get some support and to hopefully give some support along the way. My name is Kandi, and I'm 36 years old. I'm 5'10" and I'm not willing to share those numbers on the scale yet ... mostly because I don't "really" know (nor do I want to right now ;) )

I spent most of my life "thin", and being tall it's almost like I went from being "tall and thin" to just "a big girl" over night. I know it really didn't happen like that, but it felt that way.

My problem is binge eating. I can be so good for so long and then I just "crack". Instead of eating 2 or 3 cookies ... I'll sit and eat almost an entire box :sad2: I've also noticed that I eat my food VERY fast. I rarely sit and chew and "enjoy" anything.

What I'm trying to do right now is to make healthy eating choices and EXERCISE! I'm a big fan of The FIRM workouts and have used them sucessfully a few times in my life. I know that when I'm working out regularly, I can be a bit more flexible in my food choices. I also exercise when I get home from work. I tried the early morning thing, but it just doesn't work for me :confused3 I'm not a morning person so I wouldn't get out of bed, and then I'd spend the whole day beating myself up because I didn't exercise.

I've just returned from a business trip and am getting back on track ... already know which DVD will be popped into the DVD player after work tonight and I'm looking foward to it :thumbsup2 Now ... to go fill the water glass and stay AWAY from the Diet Coke :cheer2:

Woo hoo wenches......

Checking in with some good news and bad news....

Bad news.... one more week of pureed foods..... i miss anything crunchy so bad :sad1:

Good news - my grand total down is - 29 lbs..... (31 without clothes) and nurse said i can resume weights in two weeks and spinning class in another 3 weeks ....

double woo hoo :yay: :yay:

Fantastic job!

I'm not seeing quite so much of a difference. I'm frustrated because I've been doing A LOT!

I changed my diet and removed most items with sugar. I've found quite a few things that taste pretty good even though they don't have sugar. (DCL DEFINATELY knows how to do sugar free desserts, they were super yummy!) I drink protein shakes twice a day and protein bars for snack. My personal trainer indicates that eating 5-6 meals per day will help raise my metabolism and end up helping me loose weight. As long as the meals are small. He recommended Kashi brand items as they are organic, so don't have added junk. My mini-meals are normally fruit, or a protein bar or shake.

I work out twice a week with my personal trainer, Steve (the one that looks like Orlando Bloom). He starts me out with 20 minutes on the elipticals and then 40 minutes of weights. Everytime I go in, I have to beat my previous time on the elipticals and I'm up to 1.8 miles in 20 minutes. He also increases number of repetitions or weight every time I do the different weights.

The first weeks or so my calves hurt constantly. I had trouble getting out of bed in the morning. I would hobble around for a while until I could bear the aching a little better. Finally, they don't hurt so much.

I also try to get into the gym one other day a week. Sometimes I'm successful, other times I'm not. Today, I spent 50 minutes on the treadmill doing interval training and ended up going about 2.5 miles. With interval training, I fluxuate between a higher and lower heart rates. The lower heart rate helps with fat burning and the higher heart rate helps with cardio.

After all that, my jeans *might* be a bit loose, but I'm back up to 157 pounds, where I had been 156 a month ago. I keep telling myself it's muscle weight, but it's frustrating. I really don't see any difference, yet. Steve introduced me to one of his prior clients. She said in a year, she went from a size 12 to a size 6. I'm currently a size 12, I would LOVE to be a size 6 again. Here's hoping.

Calves part sounds like you may need more potassium...Maybe have a banana and Peanut butter for breakfest or a snack...

Trader Joes sells alot of healthier products too... I've tried a couple Kashi things and was never impressed. The one box of cereal ended up in the trash cause no one would eat it..... Now product 19 flies off the shelf in our house... or the high protein TJ cereal (looks like chinese noodles).

It sounds like Steve has you on a good program but keep in mind that Trainers are like car salesmen. They tell you what you want to hear so you keep supporting their paycheck. All gyms have quotas for their people....

I spent over $1,600 at Bally's a couple years ago for training. It helped me get into a program but it was my diet (WW that time) that lost me the weight. (ok that and 5-6 cadio classes a week) i was doing jazzercise classes and training at the same time for a few months but i was killing myself oh yeah and my knees...

Hi Everyone

I just did my weigh in (haven't done one for a couple weeks) and am down two pounds. Wish it were more...thought it would be more, since I went skiing last week and got lots of exercise, but also did more eating than I should, so there you go. I find ski trips are like camping. You always seem to be eating a meal, planning a meal, snacking between meals..........

Not only am I the troop leader/cookie Mom..I am the neighborhood cookie rep... in about 2 weeks I will have 3000 cases invade my residence (they will mostly be picked up that day)... I agree..the over smell of mint and peanut butter will cure your taste for any of the cookies!

Desiree

Desiree,

I don't quite have 3000 cases, but right now my living room is covered in thos lovely little boxes. Must seperate and distribute immediately!!!! Of course I can't eat the ones in my living room since they belong to someone else, but I find that the little buggers trigger cravings BIG TIME!!!

I'm a little behind on the DIS, but wanted to say I'm glad you are feeling better. How scary that must have been. I am also an ice skater but can not roller skate to save my life, and had a heck of a time when I took DD first time. I gave up and asked my brother to teach her. He is into roller blading.

BIP, it is great you are still off the soda. DH, the one that would come home and drink a 2 ltr bottle of reg soda every night, can not drink reg soda anymore. It is just too sweet for him. The rest of the diet will come...just stay away from that nasty soda :thumbsup2

Lorri & Arlene...:grouphug: :grouphug: - I have to get my butt in gear for excercising too. We used to have a group of ladies in the neighborhood that walked at 5:30AM, but that has dwindled. I don't like walking by myself (especially that early in the morning :scared: )

Hi Kandi :wave2:

I go though phases of binge eating too. It is usually something that triggers it (haven't figured out exactly what  ), but when it hits I just seem to NEVER get full.
