We have been to Disney about 15 times in the last 20 years, and since Cape May has been around, their buffet is a must do at least once a trip. However, last week, when we entered the restaurant we were told several times by the hostess and waitress that they added crab to the buffet. What we didnt know was that they also increased the price of the dinner to $32.99 a person! Yikes. Allears.net is still showing the old price of $26.99, but wdwinfo.com, I just noticed, has the new price. The crab is so small, its not worth trying to break open. The other selections of the buffet were not as good as we remembered either. Maybe we just hit it on an off night, but for the new price equaling an extra $24 for my family of four, Cape May, Im sorry to say wasnt worth it.

We have ADR's for next week, thanks for the heads up on the price increase. I doubt we will change at this point, but it could keep us from going again for a while.

We just ate there on January 1 and I guess our price was the same, I don't remember off the top of my head. But we loved our food there. I think they have the best baked chicken I've ever had anywhere.

My husband loved the crab legs. I wonder if they may have just been small the night you were there. Or maybe it is because he doesn't eat them all that often.

This is one of the reasons we always get the Dining Plan. No surprises, no wondering if a restaurant is worth the cost.

We ate there Jan 8 and the same thing happened to us. We questioned the bill and was told it was the added cost of the crab legs. We were there in Oct the first week they had them but the price was lower. I wish there was a way to offer them only if you wanted them for the extra money. Our DD even though she is an adult does not eat alot and does not eat seafood, yet the rest of us do enjoy the clams, mussels and now the crab legs. I think next trip we won't be going first since we were just there, second it will be June and with the heat we don't seem to go for large meals and third I think the cost is just too high. We use the TIW card but for our next trip I need to buy a new one, mine has just expired. I did think the rest of the food was good, but we arrived at 5:30 and until 6:30 there was a huge line for the seafood, it was crazy. They need to move things around on the buffet. You had to stand in a long line if you wanted the fish of the day, or the pasta dish, or corn on the cob, since they were on the buffet with the seafood. It was crazy.

We enjoy Cape May Cafe and have been many times, but that really is almost an obscene price for what you get.
Most importantly, they need to peel the damn shrimp!!!!! :lmao:

Same here! It really doesn't bother me to see price increases since we use the DDP. But I understand perfectly how much it could affect people paying OOP.

Hi, Anyone else have an opinion on the QUALITY of the crab legs??:confused3 Thanks, Joan

not sure the date you went, but Cape May is one of the restaurants at Disney that does have seasonal (holiday and peak time) price increases.

Pretty sure there are two increases, the increase with the new menu AND the seasonal increase!:scared1:

They have gone past the tipping point where most of these places are within reach or justified in paying OOP for.

I plan on trying Cape May next trip, I'm on the DDP, so the price doesn't matter, but I don't think I'd pay that much OOP for a buffet.

We were there just last week. The $33 is the new normal price...not the holiday rate. Bummer.

The crab legs the three times I have eaten there were the freshest, cleanest(no barnacles) and the tastiest I have ever had and I am a crab leg fanatic.

These crab legs are the Opilio crabs and not King crabs/Snow crabs.
The same ones you find at Chinese restaurants. That said, the legs are steamed fresh right at the buffet and never sit around in boiling water. They crack easy and come out in one piece.

The price of the buffet is higher but IMHO it is still very reasonable compared to the other on property restaurants. I think it was a very large increase but I will still pay it. Great food.

I just went on the Disney site and it is listed at 35.99!!!!! they have gotten out of control....we were there Dec 16 and the price was 28.99 plus tax. maybe that is with tax it does not say....they are trying to force people into the dining plan(as the people on here stated I don't care what it costs I have the dining plan). We have tried the dining plan before and don't like it having to make reservations and plan every move and way too much food. We have the TIW but still I just object to what they are doing..

35.99!!! That's insane!!! Cape May Cafe is our favorite but it's not worth $36

They raised the price because Snow Crab legs are now included on the buffett and before you could purchase them at an additional charge.

they were included in the meal I had Dec 16 at Cape May buffer and the price of the buffet was 28.99, that is some price increase in 1 month

Maybe they aren't the only ones that have increased prices. They almost have to to justify the new DDP cost.
