We have ADR's at Cape May on Sept. 26th. We haven't eaten here in about 2 yrs. I was wondering how the food, service, etc. is now. We really loved it when we went 2yrs. ago, but you know time changes all things. Any recent trips to Cape May? I am patiently waiting for any help here.....:surfweb:

Breakfast or dinner? That will make a difference... :thumbsup2

IMO, their breakfast is better than their dinner. I found the breakfast to be well stocked and fresh (and the characters were nice), while dinner disappointed due to the high amount of fried seafood and lack of freshness in other dishes.

I'm sure others will chime in with differing reports, but that's my two cents!

ETA: We were just there last month and the service was excellent for both meals.

We did breakfast there in May.... we enjoyed it. Food was OK... not over the top IMO. We had a late seating 10:55 for breakfast, and the character interaction was AMAZING!

We always do breakfast there every year and it is fantastic. We did dinner there 3xs in one year and by the third time it was just eh. Well it has been a year since we went to dinner at Cape May and we are going to try it again next month and I cannot wait!

We just got back on tuesday and ate there for dinner this trip and really enjoyed it. We are already planning on going back for dinner next year.

We were there earlier this month. It was okay in my opinion...I much prefer the Crystal Palace. I did find as many selections as I did at CP and I thought the character interaction was better at CP as well. However, DH did like the grits at Cape May.

Cape May Dinner is our Favorite. It is a must do on all of our trips

We went there for the first time for dinner this August. We all enjoyed it. My husband liked the fact that there were some different items such as the clams and mussels that he hadn't gotten at other places. I think we will try the breakfast next time as I have heard good things about it too.

We were there twice in May 08 for dinner and all I can say is soooooooo goooooood! And the service was amazing!! Thumbs up to oor server Karen:thumbsup2

can you describe the high amount of fried seafood? I remember from my last visit none of the seafood being fried, except for possibly fried shrimp on the kid' buffet, but that may not have even been there on the last time I went either.

Good Service, so-so food. Really Good Dessert. Dont go expecting great mussels and clams. They were just ok.

We got back last Friday, the 12th, after 10 days in the World and ate at Cape May for dinner - which was not one of our "original" reservations, but all those went out the window when we realized we weren't eating as early as we thought for dinner.

Let's just say that my DS4 and DD8 ate more there for dinner than any other place the whole trip! My DS actually ate mussels and LOVED them - it was like pulling teeth to get him to eat much else the entire trip. DD also ate those and tried the clams as well (neither of which, by the way, were fried - they were in the shell).

The reason the kids enjoyed it, I believe, is because it wasn't the standard "kids meal" fare - they could whatever they liked off the buffet. We ended up having roast chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans with squash, salads, peel n eat shrimp, buttered rolls, cornbread, etc., etc.

Desserts - our host made a point of showing us the 3 'special' desserts at the front of the room (behind the hostess stand) that are NOT on the general buffet. Of course, we had to have the oreo bon bons!!! :goodvibes

All in all, it was an excellent meal. Our server, Linda, was FANTASTIC and attended us quite nicely. We would have liked to have gone back - we just ran out of time!!!

Go, enjoy, and make the decision for yourself as to whether you enjoy it or not!!!

Glad to hear the good dinner reviews, we will be eating there for the first time in October. How is the chowder?

I ate there recently (this past February) for dinner and it was still very good. The food was still plentiful and tastey. I especially like the New England Clam Chowder. I've never eaten there for breakfast, but I have heard that is still good also. I hope you keep reservation and enjoy!

It'son my list for next Sept as DSIL loves clams and shrimp and there is enough other food the the other non seafood eaters . Me I'll be with DSIL at the seafood table !!

This is a must eat at place for us. We love dinner there, no kids, but we think they'd love it! (And we'll take 'em when we're blessed with 'em) My parents have gone with us and also loved it. (Though Olivia's is still their favorite place to eat) The food is good though and service great, we've never had a complaint. I love the desserts too! Yummo~ And it's usually not too hard to get in if you even call that morning or the day before.
