Can't We Just Travel by Map? Oct 2013 PTR

So I showed the bag to Jim last night and he did not get the Star Wars reference. When I pointed it out to him he said he would have never figured it out on his own. But he loved it once he did see it!

Oh I just love it oopsi! She really does sew with love doesn't she?! It totally shows in this bag. And I am stumped on the Star Wars thing...I know it will just pop out of me once I know, but I can't get it. popcorn::

I absolutely LOVE your D~ bag! Your bag really showcases the thought and love that she puts into each of her bags. I am a HUGe fan of the castle and of WISHES, so this just ties it all together for me! :love::love::love: Just LOVE it! I still don't see the Star Wars reference though! :confused3 I'm stumped!

Just wanted to say that I hope you have an awesome trip to Louisville this weekend! I just got back home after being gone for 5 days. It made me realize how much I LOVE my city! I am still hoping to maybe plan a day trip to Nashville and the Opry Mills Mall sometime in July! I would love to have a DisMeet with you. I'm sure Caden and Gabe would have a GREAT time together! :flower3:

well, I have never posted on this site (or any other discussion board actually), but I just read through this entire report and I am so impressed!:thumbsup2 I never even knew this kind of thing existed and to see how you all support each other and help each other through the best and worst of times is amazing to me! You are all so lucky to have found a common place to share your stories and your lives. I am looking forward to reading more about you all!!!:goodvibes

Yay someone new!!!!!
And now you have found a place to do the same!!!

Hmm, could it be:
Star Wars- Brian's favorite obsession/Green Yoda-Like Mickey zipper pull?

PS: Your surprise video had me bawling my eyes out. All three off your children are beautiful.

Yea! I did good. :cool1: I've been starring at it for a while and I still can't figure it out. Guess I'll have to wait till you do the reveal.

Of course, you now know since I
"cheated" and gave you the answer... :lmao:

Ditto! Hmmm, I wonder what it could be!

The answer is coming right up...keep scrolling down. :thumbsup2

First - Jillian's graduation.... She is beautiful - you must be so proud! I guess I never realized that her and V are the same age!

******************************************************************

I know, I know, I know the answer.... LOL But I can't tell...

Thank you Connie... YOur pictures make it look way better than mine do... I haven't posted it in my PTR or on FB yet, because I didn't want anyone to think it was an auction bag...

I do have to say - that I almost had tears in my eyes while making it... My whole goal for this bag was to give it MEANING - not just a bag, but a bag that told a story. It was such a gamble... I knew you would either LOVE it or HATE it - there would be no in between. I have been around Connie enough to know that God and Family are most important to all of them... I just hoped that when she saw "her" castle - she would see each and every family member in it... It just really meant a lot to be able to make this bag for her... So, many hugs to all of you and your family... You are all such wonderful people. :hugs:

I also have to say that I had some help - I don't plan on revealing who my helper is (just yet) - but you do know her, she is a Diser, she does post in your TR, and she has an amazing visual eye & really helped me get the towers to be "just right" - as I had to cut them out several times to get them the way I wanted them.

Anyways... Thanks for the call last night, and thanks for loving the bag... That means so much to me - it truly does. (((Hugs)))

D~

Yes, V and Jillian are the same age. I had hoped they would "hit" it off at our Dismeet, but everyone was just so tired and distracted that night that none of us really had a chance to get to know each other very well. I am sure someday we will have a proper Dismeet! :thumbsup2

So I showed the bag to Jim last night and he did not get the Star Wars reference. When I pointed it out to him he said he would have never figured it out on his own. But he loved it once he did see it!

Yes, it's very subtle , but it is definitely there! :cool2:

I LOVED Louisville!!! There were just so many things about that town that surprised and intrigued me. We had a fabulous time! I will do a mini-TR tomorrow on my weekend. I took LOTS of pictures. :thumbsup2

There is actually a VERY big Dismeet scheduled for July 6 at Opry Mills. It is being organized by MeMom. Let me know if you would be interested in coming and I will share details with you. :goodvibes

:welcome: So glad you have found the Dis!!! It truly is an amazing little community! Don't worry, we are kind to "newbies", LOL! I too had to learn how to do things on here when I started. I had never participated in any sort of discussion forum before the Dis. It's a great place, and you will fast become addicted! :rolleyes1

Yay someone new!!!!!

Well, that is a good guess, but not it. Actually the green Mickey head is a tribute to an old Disboards tradition. At one time Disers put some sort of lime green Mickey head somewhere on themselves or a bag they were carrying so that we could all sort of "recognize" each other in the parks. It seems to be a dying tradition, but I still like it. :goodvibes

Aw, thanks! My kids are pretty special. I am blessed to have them. :cloud9:

Yeah, if I can just figure out how to use the site properly! haha, I am NOT a computer genius!!!:rotfl2:

Just keep coming back you'll have it down in no time! :thumbsup2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for the reveal of the Star Wars representation on my bag....
The bottom portion of the larger towers are shaped like light sabres!!! :dance3: Here is another picture for you to see it again:
:thumbsup2
That is SUCH an awesome bag.. I am in LOVE with it.
Me too!!! :lovestruc I have it prominently displayed in my dining room so that I can admire it each time I wlk through the house. :lmao:
I am thinking you may have had some input in the design process... :rolleyes1
This past weekend I had a "reunion" trip with my BFF from high school. It had been almost 17 years since we had seen each other. We have recently connected on FB, and decidede we just needed to get together for sort of a girl's weekend. Can I just say we had the BEST time?! It was so great to spend time with her! We were able to just pick up and hang out like we had in the "olden days".
We spent our weekend riding around in this:
This was her Jeep, and we rode around with the top down all weekend. She was very excited about it. She lives in Chicago, and had never gotten to put the top down since she got it over a year ago. Apparently, it just doesn't get hot enough for it in Chi-town. :confused3
I really didn't get any photos Saturday as we were just too busy talking up a storm and catching up. Sunday, I went on a picture taking FRENZY! :rolleyes1 I won't subject you to all of them, don't worry! :thumbsup2
Sunday morning we found a fabulous place to enjoy brunch. If you are ever in Louisville, I highly recommend Dish on Market for brunch. Just look at this beautiful food:
As you can tell from the picture, it was a beautiful day, and we dined al fresco. That gorgeous plate is filled with: bacon wrapped filet migon with hollandaise sauce, eggs over easy, potato hash, cheese grits, and an english muffin. It was delicious, but as you can imagine, I could not eat all of it.
Here is a snapshot of the girls who enjoyed this scrumptious feast:
After brunch we headed out for our favorite adventure of the entire trip. Where were we headed? A cemetery! :scared1: Yes, weird, but we had spied this cemetery the day before, and we were so excited to go explore it. We headed to Cave Hill Cemetery. This cemetery is advertised with local attractions...and for very good reason. It is such a beautiful place! :cloud9: We spent over two hours riding around, walking, taking pictures...it was just too beautiful and serene. We loved it.
From the pictures you will see that it was so much like a gorgeous park filled with gravestones. So, here are some pictures for your cemetery enjoyment:
It has a wonderful duck pond with ducks, geese and swans:
Okay, now for pictures of gravestones that really captured my attention. Feel free to scroll right on through if this creeps you out. :lmao:
This one reminded me of Master Gracey's grave:
BFF thought this cabin looked like one on Lost... (I never watched it, so I was at a loss):
And because this is a DISNEY forum, I felt I needed to share some Disney related sadness with you...I, unfortunately, found the gravestone for what looks to be Ariel or one of her sisters:
continued in next post...
After enjoying the cemetery (that DOES sound weird, doesn't it? :rolleyes1) we headed down to walk along the river front. On the way down, I spied something else that caught my attention and reminded me a little of Disney...my tribute to Norvay:
And on to the river front:
After our stroll down the river front, it was time to say goodbye. We had a fantastic weekend, and LOVED the town of Louisville. There was another side of town that had a great hipster/ ecclectic vibe to it that we adored. I wish now that I would have taken pictures of that area as well. We explored that side of town on Saturday while we were talking up a storm and catching up...hence the lack of photos. :sad2: We also spent Saturday evening at a place called 4th Street Live. This was a great place for fun nightlife. We went to a few bars to have drinks and enjoy some live music. It was so much fun, and for a few hours I felt young and full of life. :rockband: :drinking1 :dancer: :lmao:
We so enjoyed each other's company this past weekend, and look forward to meeting up in Nashville and Chicago in the not so distant future. :cool2:
So, that was MY weekend. Check out the next post to see what Brian and the kids got into while I was away...
So, while I was away Brian and the kids did something fun too! I reserved spots for them to participate in a Lowes Build and Grow workshop. They got to build a Monsters University treasure chest! :sulley: They were so excited to do this. You will notice that Jillian is missing from the pictures. That is because she was away at youth camp for the week. :thumbsup2
Cuties in aprons:
Let the building begin:
Looks like my little guy needed a little assistance from Daddy:
Time for the MU customization:
Gabe looks so happy in this picture:
Adding some finishing touches:
And the finished products:
They absolutely LOVED doing this. They each got a Monsters University build patch to put on their aprons, and Daddy had them already ironed onto the aprons when I got home! :love: They are already asking when they can do it again, so I guess Mommy needs to get on the ball and schedule another one! ::yes:: Oh, and we MUST go this weekend to see the movie! popcorn::
Looks like you had a wonderful weekend!
I loved the cemetary pictures. I'm probably a little weird but I got a chuckle out of the Ariel comment. And the cabin does look like the cabin from Lost!
That troll thing is a little creepy! Louisville looks like a great city. I think I might have been through there on vacation when I was 12 but that was a long time ago so I'm not sure. :rotfl:
The Monster's University chests look really cute. One of my employee's took her grandson this weekend to make a chest and then to the movie. She said the movie was really good but wished they had seen it in 2D. She said there weren't enough special effects to be worth the 3D price. I'm probably not going to get to see it till 4th of July. Got too much going this weekend plus Jim has not seen the first one yet. We are going to watch it on Saturday.
I'm so glad you had such a fun weekend in Louisville. I absolutely LOVE it here! Did you go inside the Troll Pub or just take picture of the troll? I think the coolest part about the pub is that it's the Troll Pub Under the Bridge and it's actually UNDER the 2nd Street bridge (or mostly under it anyway :confused3)
As I mentioned before (maybe over on Mo's PTR) I love Cave Hill Cemetery. It is such a beautiful and serene place. I need to go and take some pics...it's been several years since I have been there.
What places did you go into at 4th Street Live? I have to say that I don't go there too much, I feel like I'm getting too old? When all the barely 21's are running around in their barely dressed selves I feel a little out of place. :confused3 We do love to visit Howl at the Moon occasionally as it's very fun and a MUCH MORE diverse crowd (especially in terms of age). ::yes::
It sounds like you had an amazing weekend with your friend. So glad that you got to catch up and that you enjoyed yourselves.
What a great weekend! Mo taught me that hanging in a cemetary can be fun. Just as long as you stay on the right side of the grass :)
Glad you had fun with your long lost BFF. Thanks for sharing.
Awww... I just loved those posts Connie!!! YOu look wonderful! YOu redid your hair too - it's super cute!
I love having that connection with my bff and H.S. bff - we can be apart for so long and just come back together as if time stood still - it's just an amazing connection to have. Speaking of which - I need to call my H.S. bff - I have't talked to her in a few months.
It looks like you had a fabulous time - thank you so much for sharing your weekend with us (and your food porn pics too - NUM!)
And the kids looked like they had a great time making their MU treasure chests - what a cool activity. Where is Brian's though??? And I didn't see Jillian there - or did I miss her?
:)
This looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2
LOVE LOVE the pictures!!
Chicago Dis Meet... Date please?
Louisville was great. I think you and Jim would really enjoy it. It just has so many cool places just to explore and hang out. LOVED it!
I wondered if anyone other than me would enjoy the Ariel joke. :rotfl2: I am glad I am not the only one with a morbid sense of humor... :thumbsup2
WHAT?!? Jim hasn't seen Monsters Inc???? You must let me know if he likes it...
We did NOT go into the Troll Pub. That troll just caught my attention every time we drove by it, so I just HAD to take a picture of it. :upsidedow
We could have stayed in that cemetery even longer. We did spend over two hours there...and still did not see half of it I am sure. It truly is such a special place. Funny side story...we also visited what we termed the "ghetto cemetery" next door...now that was one CREEPY cemetery! :rotfl2: It was VERY obvious which cemetery received the government funding! ::yes::
We went to Eddie Merlot's for drinks first. They had a jazz band playing, and it was definitely a bar designed for the older, more sophisticated crowd. After that we spent the rest of the evening in the Irish Pub. While it was definitely a louder, crazier crowd, we really liked the band that was playing that night. They did a very wide variety of cover tunes (lots of different genres). The lead singer could sound JUST LIKE whoever originally did whatever song they were performing. He was very talented to say the least. We looked into Howl at the Moon, but it actually looked like that is where the "bump and grind" younger crowd was hanging out that night. :confused3
What a great weekend! No taught me that hanging in a cemetary can be fun. Just as long as you stay on the right side of the grass :)
Glad you had fun with your long lost BFF. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I couldn't help but think of Mo when we were at the cemetery. I have no doubt she could have taken some GORGEOUS pictures at the Cave Hill Cemetery....it was such an artistically awe inspiring place...for real! I commented more than once that whoever the horticulturist for that place was had to be a genius. The landscaping was incredible. There were so many unique and beautiful mausoleums, gravestones, planters and statues (both old and new). The place was just fantastic, and by far our favorite part of the trip. ::yes::
Looks like such fun!!! It's good to get away and have some girl time every once in awhile!:cloud9:
Yes, it was a great weekend. It was actually the first time I had had ANY sort of girl fun in several years. My "girl time" is typically limited to meeting friends for lunch from time to time. It felt good to completely set aside my role as employee, Mommy and wife for a day or two. :goodvibes
Thank you for noticing my hair and for liking it! :goodvibes Yes, I went with a shorter "do" with bangs a few month ago. Actually, it is grown out a bit too much at the moment. I have a close friend as a hairdresser. She actually comes out to the house and does all of our hair in one whack. She is due to come out next week! :thumbsup2
Jillian was at youth camp all week. She came home Saturday night. So the WHOLE family was having a grand time this past weekend. :cool1:
This looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2
LOVE LOVE the pictures!!
Chicago Dis Meet... Date please?
Not sure of dates yet, Mo. But, believe me when I say you will be one of the first to know when we do get it set up. :thumbsup2 As it turns out, my Chicago friend's BFF is a SW airlines flight attendant and may be able to get me free tickets on standby. That would make it a much better possibility for me. BUT...it probably won't be anytime in 2013. We still have several family trips planned for this year. ::yes::
