I was trying to price out a land and sea package, I think that is what they are called, the 4-day cruise and 3-day DW package on the DCL website but said that the rates for adding resort and tickets would be available later this year. I was wondering if Disney was still offering these packages, will they be offering them in 2012, and if you get some sort of deal on the price as opposed to booking the cruise and the DW stay separately? Thanks for any help! I am a complete newbie to cruises LOL!

They discontinued the Land/Sea packages. You are better off booking your own separately anyway because when they offered it before, you were locked into a resort hotel based on the category of cabin you purchased. If you do it yourself, you can choose the best resort for you and we found that we really didn't save any money booking the land/sea. A travel agent can be a huge help if you are unsure about doing it yourself.

From what I know just from pricing Disney vacations, the packages don't save you any money, just convenience. You may actually get a better price booking them separately, as the resorts frequently offer special discounts that DCL may not use when booking.

As an alternative you may want to have a travel agent book both for you, since they'll be able to find any discounts for both, plus arrange connecting shuttles, etc.

I know some people who did WDW before the cruise, and were completely wiped out by the time the cruise started, lol. Some people may enjoy the cruise first, and then doing the parks after relaxing on the ship. :)

DF have decided to do a land/sea for our honeymoon but we can't figure out how to book it. Is it to early for august 2012? We can book land or sea but not both.

You have to book them separately now. Disney no longer has the land/sea packages. Works out better this way, you will get to choose the resort you want to stay at and you can take advantage of any discounted packages or PIN codes if you get any.

We did WDW and a cruise last year. You book each one individually, not as a land/sea package anymore.:)

DCL no longer does offical Land/Sea packages like they used to. You now have the option to book pre or post nights at WDW at the DCL site (but it is too early right now to do that, I believe as the WDW room rates are not out yet).

But, price out doing the WDW portion of your honeymoon and the DCL portion as separate reservations and then pricing out the pre or post nights at the DCL site and see which deal is better.

The problem seems that when booking WDW rooms through the DCL site you are not able to take advantage of any special discount pricing on the WDW rooms...you would be paying rack rates. You also can't add the dining to rooms booked through the DCL. Where if you book WDW separately they may have a discount pin code for the time you go.

So, price them out separately when they are available to book and see which way works out best for you. Either way you can still add DCL transfers to your reservation.

The rates are out! They were released with the ticket price hike last month.

OP: Depending on your budget, you may want to look at renting DVC points as well. I'm staying at AKL and paying just over $1,000 for a 10 day/9 night stay. That's saving me at least $1,000 off of rack rate, up to $3,000 if we luck out and get a savannah view.

If you don't mind not having mousekeeping every day, it's a great way to stay Deluxe on a Value budget!
