Can't change resorts and keep free dining?

I called twice today to attempt to change from AKL to the Poly due to construction concerns. Both CM's told me they could not do it and keep the free dining. I asked them to check other resorts as well, and it could not be done, so I don't think it's an availability issue. Also, I've been waffling about this for awhile, and I know that on the last day free dining was offered, the website showed many rooms available at the Poly. Any thoughts? By the way, my dates are 9/6-9/9.

Thanks!

I have tried to change resorts and keep my free dining since the promo ended but I keep getting told different stories from CM. If you have been successful at this in 2007 please let me know.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I know people have changed with past promos but I think they've changed the rules on us.

I didn't switch resorts, but I added a day earlier this week and they told me that I had to have the one day as a separate ressie that there was no more availability in that promotion for the day we added.

I called today and asked for the general public code to be added and they couldn't, no AP either. I politely asked the CM if there was any way that I could add the day to my current package and get the free dining for that day. He said he'd have to get ahold of another department and put me on hold. He came back and said it was done.

I asked for about a week, so I guess it's the luck of the draw if you get a CM that is willing to do that for you.

I believe the issue is that the free dining offer has ended. I think the last day to book was June 24. If you had tried to change before then you could have done so (assuming there were rooms available). Now it is too late to book a new reservation or change resorts.

Ask to speak with guest relations, they are the ones that can help you dependent upon avail.

If you call back and still get refused ask for Guest Services. If guest services says no ask them what resort would be available to you to change to to keep yopur package as is and add a day. Don't give up keep trying:thumbsup2

Because the promo ended when you call CRO their computers will not show anything available. You need to speak to guest services & ask them switch resorts. We did this last year during free dining.

I've been trying to change too. When I booked in mid-May the values were already sold-out for the free dining promo for our dates. Yesterday when I called and asked again all of the values are still unavailable and this time I was told that even if there was availability for our travel dates I would not be able to keep the dining promo. :(

I've only contacted WDW through a toll-free line. What is the phone number for Guest Services, or is there an option when I call the number I've been using (800-828-0228)?

I have only spoken to guest services when I was switched by CRO. Last year when I tried to switch from Pop to WL they said is wasn't available. I then had her check every deluxe hotel & they all showed not available. It was then that the CM started to realize something was wrong & switch to guest services. When you call ask them to check different resorts. If nothing shows up "nicely" suggest they ask guest services as the promotion booking window has closed. You may need to try more than once to get the CM to understand.

I'm assuming that the CM that added mine today must have put me on hold and spoke with guest services...he said he needed to contact another department. He came back on the line and said it was done. The night was added to my free dining package.

The other CMs I've talked to never mentioned that..he was just very nice.

Call, Call & Call Again! Last year we received some unexpected "Bonus" money just 7 days before we left. We decided we wanted to upgrade our rooms. The CM at reservations was wonderful, she got on the phone with someone from guest relations, and after almost 45 minutes (it was worth it) they were able to change resorts & still let us keep free dining. There was a fee for the change but it was well worth it. Just like everyone else keeps saying, some CM's just either don't want to, don't know how to, &/or aren't willing to learn or check. Good Luck and I hope all your wishes come true:wizard:

I called today (Sunday) to switch from Pop to CSR and was told that I'd lose my free dining. I was surprised as last August we switched resorts twice and that was with free dining as well.

Keep calling! You just have to get the right CM on the phone to do it for you. I called yesterday to add a promo code to our stay (dropped our rates dramatically) and the first CM I spoke to said NO you can't do that...he said that promo code was not available for our household.:confused3 Whatever that means? So, I asked to speak to someone else. He put me thru to guest relations and they added the promo code. So...it does happen, keep on calling!

See the link in my signature about changing a Free Dining reservation.

Guest Services STILL may say no if there is no availability for the free dining promtoion at the resort you wish to switch to.. but the front line CM's on the phones can't help you with this.. you need to politely insist they check with guest services.

If they refuse, ask for a supervisor. It is YOUR vacation.. they should at least try for you!
