Has anyone cancelled their Sept. trip due to the large activity of storms? We are going mid Sept., I have not cancelled but have given it some thought.
We're going...leave tomorrow. We'll deal with it if storms come. From what I've read, Disney handles storm info & planning very well. We'll be prepared to get wet, anyway, and have books, snacks, etc. in case we get stuck in room for a day or so. But mostly, we plan to have a great time regardless.
I'm on the fence about booking another trip "just in case" for Oct, but we're w/i 45 days and would have to pay for the whole thing. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that all is well in 27 days!
We are not going till the end of September and the only way we would cancel would be if we could not get to Orlando. We have been looking forward to this trip for almost a year and we are not giving it up. Besides...it's just rain, it's not like you are going to melt or anything. I've been through worse.
We arrive on September 19. I keep close track of the weather and I'll even consider driving from NY instead of flying if it means I can still check in on the 19th!
Yep...this is exactly why Disney offers free dining. Disney nevers does something out of the generosity of their hearts. Most people avoid Florida from late August to early Oct due to the possible storm activity.
So, they (Disney) offers up free dining to get their rooms filled. If we book at this time of year, we have to understand the inherent dangers associated with booking during hurricane season.
I'm headed down a week from today...if I can land at MCO, I'm going. Once I get there, bring it on. I've done Disney in a hurricane before and it's not a big deal.
I was just talking about this last night. It's going to depend how the weather looks in the days leading up to when we leave. We go 9/18-9/28. If there is a storm in the works and it looks like it is going to hit Disney I will strongly consider cancelling. As much as my family loves to be in Disney, we would hate walking around in the pouring rain and wind for days. My children love the disney waterparks and I doubt they would have much fun at them in the pouring rain. Also the thought of being locked down into a hotel room for a day or two sounds like a miserable vacation, even if we are in disney. I knew this was a possibility when we planned this trip. We are just going to keep our fingers crossed and hope for a little pixie dust to keep the storms away.
No way!! I survived last year(late October) where it rained everyday some days all day long. I still had a blast. Throw on a poncho and a smile; you're in Disney World!
