Cancelling sept. trips?

Go to click10 and click hurricane tracker. Its a cool tool to look at the path of past hurricanes or tropical Storms. I remember Floyd from 1999. I live in Ft Lauderdale it was coming right at us. But suddenly turned to the north. The storms are so far out there is no way to forecast them exactly. On Monday they said Gustav would be under the Keys but Friday and look where it is. Lets just hope for the best.

:confused3 Is there a storm on it's way that I am unaware of? :confused3

1 storm came through- most the parks remained open through it. Now we have Gustav- which is going to hit Mexico and Texas/LA/Panhandle. Nowhere close to Orlando. They won't even see rain.

So...why would we consider cancelling? I'm not gonna cancel a trip based on fear. Heck- we leave in 43 days for Mexico and I haven't even thought of cancelling.

We are flying out on Sunday. Coming all the way from the UK, canceling is not an option anyway. We were exactly in the same situation in September 1999. In fact we only just about avoided hurricane Floyd. We had a great time then and I am sure we will have a great time this time round as well.

No WAY. haven't seen my son in four months and at the end of the month no little storm is going to keep me away.

But if any of you are cancelling i'm on a waitlist for a studio at okw for Monday, Sept 29th give me a shout:rotfl:

We've always had a blast no matter what the weather, so as long as we can get there we'll still go!

Another No Way here. Leave Sept. 18th

I'm in N.O. watching Gustav right now. So, we have to watch for flights canceled leaving N.O. and flights canceled arriving in Orlando.

A previous year we went in mid Sept., there was a tropical storm passing over central FL, the day before we were due to leave. Fortunately, our flight was not canceled.

We leave a week from tomorrow and my only worry is the flight landing okay! Other than that I think we will have fun regardless!

This is the time of year when there are one or two storms floating around out there anyway, so this is just par for the course when booking a Florida trip in September. Even if a storm does happen to roll through Disney, it usually is in and out of there in about 24 hours. Obviously Fay was an exception. But as was mentioned, the parks never closed due to Fay.

Enjoy the September discounts! :)

We leave Sept 13th! I really "hate" rain. I can't stand it! But, it rained a lot last year while we were there and it was no big deal. I just kept my flip flops in my back pack and when the rain started, I changed shoes and threw on a poncho! We had a wonderful trip. This year we are staying at WL, so I think if we have to rainy of a day, we will explore the resort...it looks so beautiful!

Nope, we ain't cancelin'!:goodvibes

No way! I have been planning for far too long! Besides even if a hurricane does hit, it won't stick around and close down the parks for the whole eleven days we are there.

We're going rain or shine! If the weather looks like it may be questionable, we will just leave a day ahead of time (that would give us more time in DW in fact, this sounds good anyway).

It is hurricane season and it is always a possibility that you might have one come near, around or through the Central Florida region. It's just the chance you take to see the Mouse in the late summer and early fall months.

There is a reason Disney offers those enticing packages and parties this time of year!

Well, we are now reminded WHY Disney offers free dining. To get folks to come during what is easily the riskiest time to travel to Florida! LOL!

And OH so worth it!!! :cloud9:

.

There is NO WAY we'll rebook. But I must say. I knew it was a gamble when we booked it but it gets scarier when the time actually comes. Not sure if I'll ever be willing to take the gamble again but hoping for the best and know we'll make the best of whatever weather we get.

We have been to WDW twice in Sept and have never had a incident with storms. I am keeping my fingers crossed all the storms will go away.

I'm leaving in 20 days no matter what. I can't see canceling based on the fear of some rain and wind. Chances are it won't even be an issue.
