Cancelled fireworks and Fantasmic

So shocked on Tuesday to sit and wait for fireworks and have them start only to be abruptly stopped shortly after they were going. Message came on that they would be stopping due to wind. Not a tree was blowing? Then Wednesday we got a fp for the latest Fantasmic show and fought the crowds from the first show and the fireworks and lined up just after 9. Finally got prime sitting seats center stage. An announcement came on that it was delayed due to technical difficulties. A while later came on to say it was cancelled. Not feeling these evening performances! Gonna go to dvc viewing area on the 6th floor of the Grand Californian tonight and hopefully watch the WOC!

Even without a FP there are much better locations inside DCA than the GCH 6th floor patio.

Always a bummer when these things get cancelled. For Fantasmic it is rare but with it being essentially a new show it is more likely now. It will not happen very often as months go by. Sort of like how Rivers of Light at AK was delayed for a year then after it opened and then was canceled a number of times after it did in fact open.

Fireworks at DL get canceled a little more frequently as the PP said. It is a bummer.

WOC rarely gets canceled.

I swear, there was a period of about 5 years when every single time I went the fireworks were cancelled. Winds suck, and yeah, like they said, it happens higher in the atmosphere, so you can't always tell from below. I hope it didn't ruin your visit too much.

We saw the fireworks on Monday, but they were delayed quite a bit - maybe 15-20 minutes? - they kept making announcements that the show "may" be cancelled, so I was actually shocked when it happened!

We were watching on July 19 right after Fantasmic!, and they stopped after a few minutes. It's always a bummer, but I understand the need for safety. The Halloween fireworks got cancelled last year after paying the $100 for a ticket; that was sad.

I'd have been sooooo bummed by Fantasmic! being cancelled; that's a much bigger surprise to me!

Have had the fireworks cancelled due to wind a few times. The worst part is when you stay later than you wanted with kids' bedtimes and/or school the next day and it gets cacelled.

Yeah, Fantasmic has been having a lot of issues recently. The dragon hasn't come out the last two nights, and then the full-out cancellation for the second show tonight. Hopefully it's just some minor glitches being worked out.

The fireworks cancellations sound like a higher elevation wind problem, but F! should only be cancelled if the lower winds are causing problems. Sounds like technical difficulties to me.
Would really stink if you bought one of those expensive BB dining packages!

I think F! Will be moving to only weekends soon, so hopefully it will get some maintenance.

The Halloween fireworks got cancelled last year after paying the $100 for a ticket; that was sad.

I'd have been sooooo bummed by Fantasmic! being cancelled; that's a much bigger surprise to me!

Yah I was thankful we didn't "pay" to be there! That would have been really disappointing!

Oh heck no. We were still at Disney so how bad could it of been!?! Lol. We were just exhausted from the long day(s) we had and the couple hours we wasted. We've seen the show in Florida many times so it's all good. Lol

We didn't do the parks today so watching it from the resort was a nice option. Plus no crowds!

I was just thinking the same thing. Our dining package is booked for Tuesday and that's a lot of money for a cancelled show.

This has happened to me a fair few times and it's like someone else said, the HIGHER winds are what matter, not at ground level. Always so unfortunate
