Cancelled fireworks and Fantasmic

Hearing about F! cancellations worries me. I don't want to pay for a river belle dining package next week and then not even get to see the show in the seating area...

I have a River Belle reservation in a few weeks as well. I am okay with the show getting cancelled if it comes to that. At least I still get a decent dinner out of it and IMO the price is pretty good for three courses and a drink at a sit down meal in the park.

I'd be more upset if I had the Hungry Bear package because that food does NOT look worth $30. And no dessert either. That one is a poor value.

Ultimately it's a risk- a gamble. I don't think Fantasmic is as likely to be cancelled as fireworks but tech issues and weather do happen. There is a chance it doesn't show and you will lose the money if Fantasmic doesn't show. You agreed to accept that risk when you booked it in the disclosures and info somewhere. If it's not worth the risk to you, cancel.

Ooh- good point! I hadn't analyzed it like that, but I very much agree with you!

So if the show is canceled you get nothing? No partial refund or fast pass for a future show? That's risky for a show that's on the fritz.
I just double checked the website and it says no refunds even if the show is cancelled. I'm starting to reconsider my reservation.

I believe you can cancel reservations until 24 hours before. I guess I need to pay attention and be asking next week if there are cancelled shows. :)

Regardless of the policy, if the show was cancelled I'd be visiting Guest Relations for some guest recovery. I bet they'd at least offer up some fastpasses.

Agreed. They'll have some angry guests to deal with so I hope they'd try to rectify it somehow.

Exactly. If Sunday and/or Monday are cancelled, I'm thinking I'll cancel for Tuesday.

We had this happen to us last December with the WoC dinning package at CC when both shows for the night were canceled due to wind. They were offering FP's for the show on the following night, but it was the last day of our trip.

The only thing that kind of irked me was that we were up-sold the dinning package when we arrived at CC for our dinner reservation and it had been fairly windy all day. I didn't even think about the show being canceled and it would have been nice for them to mention the possibility when were being sold the package.

The dining package for Fantasmic is for a better section. I would probably not be happy with a Fantasmic FP for guest recovery, as it's pretty easy to just get one yourself the next day. I would be looking for some ride fastpasses.

Did you receive a regular FP or a FP for the dining section you'd paid for?

It was a hand written pass for the special dining package section. I informed the cast member handing them out that we would be leaving the following day (it was the last day our AP's were valid before the Christmas blackout) and asked if there was anything else they might be able to do for us. They told us there was nothing they could do but if we stopped by guest relations on the way out they might be able to do something. It was late, we were tired and as I mentioned, we were headed home the next morning so I didn't bother.

At least they're offering a FP for the section you paid for. Too bad you weren't able to use it. I have the River Belle Terrace premium seating package booked so I'm doubtful that they'd be able to provide that for me but at least if I could get a FP to the River Belle seating area instead of a regular FP that would be something.

Well, Fantasmic wasn't cancelled last night at least. Still no Murphy. I'm feeling confident it won't be cancelled anymore... right?

Wow how many times has Murphy not come out now? That's a bit worrisome. But, as a PP said, once it moves to weekends only in Sept, hopefully these kinks will be worked out.

Yeah, but as long as the show goes on, I'm cool. I don't think he's come out for at least 3-4 days now. Murphy being down has become a simple fact of life for me; I've never actually seen him lol

I would be ticked if I spent over $350 on dinner and the show got cancelled.

So they will give you a FP for the next night for the same dining section? I'm not sure how that would work very well, since there is only so much space and, from reports, it seems like it fills up with just the same-day dining package people.

Anyone know how Fantasmic went over the weekend? I'm curious how it's doing on cancellations and if Murphy is showing up again. :)

I totally feel your pain! I hate it when the nighttime stuff gets cancelled. At WDW, the finale' is what it's all about....and they NEVER get cancelled. But at DL, it's like sleeping with a snoring person. You get all uptight and anxious waiting for that next snore/that next cancellation. The worst is when the cancel in the middle of the show. I used to feel the anxiety of the cancellation up until it started. But when they cancelled mid-show on me, now I worry it'll end at nearly every moment of the show. It really kills the magic.

I'm glad you said this, though. My kids and I were watching it while walking to the hotel after our conference ended. They were waiting for the finale and it never came! So sorry you had to experience this up close and personal. It really makes for a crumby end of the day.
