Canadian dollar hits 80 Cents

The dollar is falling because of Ft McMurray fire and the threath to the oil sands (+oil companies had to stop production). Looks badly for Cdn economy. Hopefully the rise will start again soon.

It's not because of the fire. The decline is not nearly as simplistic as that. I'm sure that the slowed oil production won't help, but that's not what started the recent "slide", which is due to a rebound of the US dollar because of Fed decisions, comodities, our exports are not doing as well as anticipated etc... The slide started before the fire became a concern, and the fire is only affecting 1/4 of production.

very thankful I decided to pay for our whole trip 3 months early to make sure the CDN $ would be at an acceptable rate. Dropped 3 cents since I paid for it.

Thankfully I paid all but 700 of our trip when it was at .80 Take into consideration the Cash Back I got for using my Amazon visa, I've done ok with this trip so far.

The only thing I have left to do is order my MNSSHP tickets next week, as well as my Universal tickets. Once that's done, all that's left is the waiting!

I used my new tangerine mastercard for the 4% cash back. It has a 1.5% fx fee, but that still meant I got 2.5% back instead of 1% with the amazon, so I was happy.
