Canadian DISer's Weight Loss Get In Shape Thread

Well no exercise today... I was in the emergence room till 4am with dd12 because of stomach pains. Thought it might be her appendix. She is fine today. But I had a big headache and slept off and on for a big part of the day. Did go for a 30 min walk and ate very very little today. Hope everyone had a better day. Weigh in tomorrow:thumbsup2
 
Is there anyone in our little group that is in the Ottawa South area that would like to take up walking?
 
Hey - I need a butter substitute of sort....Whenever I cook veggies, I automatically put butter/margarine on them. Trying to cut out some of the fats that I am eating, what can I use instead??? Any advice??

LOVE the applesauce tip!

Becel has a spray margerine. You get the flavour without using too much of it. I use it on my popcorn.
 
When your baking you can subsitute the fat measure for measure with applesauce. I do this when baking muffins, cakes, squares and it makes them good and moist.

That is a great idea! I am allergic to eggs so I can use applesauce as an egg substitute too!

None for me either we did school shopping all day. Hope dd is feeling better. We did have fun family time tonight however playing Disney Scene it!
 
Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow...I mean today. Just got off work and working nights screw me up. Oh well 1 more night to go... I know when I first joined WW that is something that I had to work through.

My big weigh in day is Friday, hubby and kids were away all this week and I wasn't the greatest so will have to work twice as hard this week.
 
Count me in too. I have lost 20lbs but would love to loose more. We have been going for bike rides and our goldendoodle loves to run along side. DS and DD need to get new bikes. We are headed to the States in a week or so and plan on looking for them.

Jumping in here also - almost! We leave Friday for a week long cruise followed by our week at Disney on the dining plan - double whammy for me!

I will be joining in Sept 2nd bright and early!

I went from 240 and a sz 22 several years ago to 173 and sz 14/16 then my grammaIL died, I fractured my elbow, popped my achilles tendon which stopped the exercising and life got crazy - sad to say I'm back up to 225 and a sz 18/20. I visited with my mom Friday who has been very over weight all her life and watched her try to walk across the field to ds' baseball game and decided right then and there that I need to take control of my weight again - I am pushing 40 and want to be healthy enough to do stuff with my boys and dh for a long time to come.

If it helps - last time I started out slowly - change 1 thing at a time - I wrote down everything I ate, drank my 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and followed the canada food guide. I made sure to treat myself at least 2 times a week b/c I found if I didn't then I felt deprived and binged. I also did alot of walking.

So I will be joining you for sure when I get back from vacation in 3 weeks!!
 
Well it's Sunday time to weigh in.....171 lbs

DD12 seems to be fine. I have woken up early with no headache so I think it is going to be a good day.:yay:
 
Checking in. I have remained the same this week which does not surprise me due to my lack of discipline yesterday:guilty: Hoping that next week at weigh in I can post a loss!

Well the work out is done....:cool1: I found this great video at Chapters. I was doing it all the time a while back but then for some unknown reason I just quite. Well thanks to you guys I started again. It's a Stott Pilates video called Walk On to Weight Loss. I am not one to understand calories but I assume my breakfast today is low in calories...Low fat yogurt with fresh peaches and 100% bran buds on top. Almost as good as bacon and eggs!:laughing:
 
If not too late, I would like to participate with you all on your quest to losing weight.

However, I am going to be realistic and start once school starts again. We will be going to Montreal to celebrate our sons birthday with the families so I know that I won't be sticking to any plans.

But, once I return my plan is to start back up at Curves 3X /week and even while I am travelling for work to ensure that I am concious of what goes in my mouth.

I had lost almost 35 pounds at one time ane it slowly creeped back up. I now know that we won't be trying for a 2nd (DS is 10 and I feel that we are through with the fertility clinics and all the psychological ups and downs that go hand in hand with that process.) So the time is right!

You all seem like a VERY supportive group..so I hope you don't mind my joining in :wave2:
 
Well I weighed in today, I am at 116.5. I have 1.5 pounds to lose before we leave this Saturday for Florida for two weeks so this will be my last weigh in till Sept. Went for a 15min bike ride this morning with DH and DS15. Then did 15mins of stretching. Good luck to everyone.
 
WOW! I go away for a weekend and come back to 95 posts on this thread! GOOD FOR US LADIES!

I'm going to weigh myself this afternoon as I unpack. I've already had breakky and water. I didn't workout while at the trailer, but I did manage a couple of walks and ate very healthy!

Joline, I've been reading a book by a nutritionist (title eludes me right now), and the advice is to not eliminate fats, but to choose good fats, instead. Perhaps a splash of olive oil over the veggies would be a solution for flavour AND for health.

Dianna, your story sounds similar to mine (well, except for the age, the cruise, the free dining . . . ) I think that you have some really good advice there. :thumbsup2
 
OK time for the Sunday weigh in. I am down 2 pounds this week which makes a total of 7lbs since I started. I was bad this weekend but it was a stressful week I will do better next week. Way to go everybody on there commitment to lose and to all going away have a great trip!!! One thing I can say about WDW is that I have never gained weight while on a trip to WDW I usually lose a couple of pounds must be all the walking and the water I drinkl while there.
 
I stay the same weight during WDW trips too. I too think it's the walking and water. We also buy lots of fruits and veggie at the grocery store. I might be fat, but I REALLY like my fruits and veggies. It's the cheese and pastries I have to give up. My problem is in the volume of food I eat. I eat LOTS! Now that I'm motivated to lose the weight, I don't grave the junk and I'm thinking about food, making plans. It's working! Blessings, Sandra
 
Well my official Sunday morning weigh in is 175lbs. Now my big challenge is to not eat when I get home from work after 11:00, or atleast not eat junk food;) .
