Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

I mainly do that with my own clothes. I probably have more than anyone else in the family, especially since I'm always cold in winter, so I have the most bulky sweaters.

Well, if it's just your own clothes...
then by all means, do whatever you want.

My son, otoh, wears short sleeves year round.

I'm the same.
Only time I wear long sleeves is when I dress up.
Which isn't that often.

I quit buying long sleeve shirts for him after we had the coldest winter on record and he didn't wear a long sleeve shirt the entire time!

::yes:: I've lived in Northern Canada
and experienced temps of -45
(although -35 with 60MPH winds feels colder,
and I've done that too.)
What do I wear? (from the waist up at least)
T-shirt and a parka (and hat and mitts.)

Um, I think that shows your priorities. But apparently no one ran away screaming. At least, I assume that would've gotten into the TR if someone had!

Still two days to go.

If there's a trick to this, let me know what it is!

I use reverse psychology on Joe. "If you really think it's worth it......" But I also know he'll talk himself out of it.

We decided the other day if our relationship was a company, he's the CFO. I'm the COO.

I was even thinking of giving you bonus points...
But... well... you'll see.

Well, now I'm intrigued...

I like it.
"Doggie-dar"
I may steal that.

Every now and then, he comes up with some really clever lines.

Right now, Luna's solid fluff.

And there is nothing wrong with that!

Next round:
1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?

7:00 AM

2. We launch on an all day excursion.
What is it?

Sightseeing. :rolleyes1

3. Kay makes a new best friend.
Figures... She's an animal lover.
What is it?
Hint: Not a dog or cat.

Turtle

4. We try a local baked treat that Elle thinks
is better than mine! What is it?
Hint: It's not been mentioned before.

Malasada. I've never been to Hawaii so I had to Google what kind of baked goods they have. One of the few treats I could come up with.

5. Did you see it? Bonus points if you did.

If I'm allergic to peanuts, do I get a discount or alternative snack? Even though I'm not allergic to nuts, I'm just looking for a discount to fly that airlines. No telling if that will be my only trip on that airlines. I might not make it back alive.

6. How many beaches do we visit?
Two

7. What do I eat for supper.
Hint: think local.

I came up with 2 choices, but I'm going with Huli Huli Chicken (Again, Google). Hopefully it's not the other one.

I used to just say to Ruby "Don't spend any money!"
I realized eventually that if I just let her do her thing,
she'll be a lot happier and really won't break the bank.

She's actually got a pretty good eye for a good deal or sale.

We decided the other day if our relationship was a company, he's the CFO. I'm the COO.

We have a more regal relationship.
She's the Queen and weekly laundry drudge.
I'm the serf and frequent kitchen wretch.

Well, now I'm intrigued...

:rolleyes1

Only occasionally? Are you sure you still want to marry him?

And there is nothing wrong with that!

::yes::

Noted. And...

You want an alternative snack????
Go fly with someone else!

And "might not make it back alive"?
What the heck!
We almost always bring our guests back in one piece!
Usually... Frequently.

And... what was "the other one"?

Ooooh, made it in time to make random guesses!

::yes::

Gotta be honest. Been playing so much catch up lately
(still one TR to go)
that I haven't felt much like writing my own.

Photos are done and up loaded.
Points are all tabulated,
(except for yours, but they will be)
but I'm just not in the mood at the moment.

Ah, well. I'll get there eventually.

7:45

Hana Coast Highway

Mongoose?

cream puffs

Awww, nuts!

Opakapaka

Noted.

My giant mean cat named Luna thinks your little ball of fluff named Luna looks very tasty.... er, I mean, cute and playful!

Your cat's name is Luna!
Apparently Valerie Bertinelli has a dog named Luna.

We should all get together, no?

Well, that was a lot of catching up!

I've really enjoyed the whole of this TR, and the Disney part was definitely helpful. It was good to have another Canuck's input on what Disney in August is like.

I gather it was hot. Between the heat of day that'll melt me into a puddle, and the freezing AC on the bus ride back at night shaping me right back up, I gather I'll probably come out of it looking like this :tilt:

Also, we'll be staying at Pop, so... I'm definitely not requesting a top floor room :P

Little late in the game for the guessing fun, but I'll be looking forward to the rest of the Hawaii updates!

I'm back and prepared to comment. Luke had his first communion over the weekend and since we live out of state from the rest of the family we had visitors. It was a busy week, but it's Monday and I'm free.
Ruby and Elle ducked into the nearest
overpriced dress shop.
Kay and I made a run for the nearest exit.
Nice escape!

Because Ruby likes to be organized.
When spring comes, she puts all the winter stuff away.
And vice versa in the fall.
I hate that.
She puts the winter stuff away...
and then we have a snow storm.
She puts the summer stuff away...
and we have a heat wave.
I honestly do this myself. Mostly because the kids have outgrown their summer shoes. I just washed and put away their winter coats. Is it safe? I hope so.

I considered getting this cool cat gun I found,
but Kay reminded me that Ruby's more of a dog person.

cat%20gun_zpsyeumagpo.gif
Um! No words!

"How much?" I ask.
"Four hundred dollars." She gleefully replies.
Wow! It must have been made of platinum

So I bought it for her.
How sweet!:flower1:

And I saw Kay wearing it just the other day.
So, good investment.
How many dresses and tops have you seen Ruby and Elle wear? I bet Kay's necklace gets the most usage.

I'll go look at a beach.
But... to sit
Nope.

Things to do! Places to see!
My dad and I were the same when I was a teen. We had to do something. I could never sit there with a book and just lay around. Now we take the kids to the beach and we're building sandcastles, jumping waves, fishing with Papa, trying not to get stung by a jellyfish or bitten by a shark, and lets not forget making sure the kids don't go out to far and get taken by the current. It's definitely not boring now!

Makes you want to go, doesn't it?
Yes, how much are Air Ponzi tickets?

Anyone want to relax and just enjoy the beach?
"Yeah!"
Well too bad! We're off to the next spot on our agenda.
Things to do!!!!!

It was only a five minute walk to the Dragon's Teeth.

Amazing!

One misstep or crumbling rock and...
The mom called her kids back.
If she hadn't, I sure as heck would have!
I have no idea what she was thinking
letting them get that close to the edge.
It was more than a little unnerving.
Yikes! That cliff looks dangerous! Gave me chills just thinking about someone slipping.

But it's pretty close to what I remember seeing.

IMG_2225_zpso7kbtnos.jpg
Beautiful!

And as we drove, the sun began to set.
I have no idea when she took this shot,
but I think Kay got the picture of the trip here.

IMG_2228_zpsw6qkexcw.jpg
Perfect!

Only one more full day to go!

:sad2:
Oh, no! Then what? Who will amuse us?

Well, that was a lot of catching up!

Well, hi there!
And :welcome: to the TR!

I've really enjoyed the whole of this TR, and the Disney part was definitely helpful.

It was?

Well, I'll be darned.
I often kid about my TRs being educational,
but I never actually thought it was true!

It was good to have another Canuck's input on what Disney in August is like.

I don't remember.
I think my brain melted.

I gather it was hot.

Now that you mention it...
Why, yes. Yes it was.

Between the heat of day that'll melt me into a puddle, and the freezing AC on the bus ride back at night shaping me right back up, I gather I'll probably come out of it looking like this :tilt:

::yes::
It's not just the heat...
Oh. Wait.

It is just the heat.

Also, we'll be staying at Pop, so... I'm definitely not requesting a top floor room :P

Good call. Or take the elevator like the normal people do.

Little late in the game for the guessing fun, but I'll be looking forward to the rest of the Hawaii updates!

I'm going to start scribbling the next update in just a few minutes.

I'm back and prepared to comment.

Welcome back!

Luke had his first communion over the weekend

Oh! Nice.
I remember how nervous my DDs were for their first.
How'd he do?

and since we live out of state from the rest of the family we had visitors. It was a busy week, but it's Monday and I'm free.

She said while laughing giddily and, frankly,
a little hysterically.

Nice escape!

It's called self-preservation.

I honestly do this myself. Mostly because the kids have outgrown their summer shoes. I just washed and put away their winter coats. Is it safe? I hope so.

You washed them too?

Snow is definitely on the way.

Um! No words!

More of a dog person, huh?
I understand.
It's not for everyone.

Wow! It must have been made of platinum

I believe it was made of suckernium.

How sweet!:flower1:

Oh, it was only $15. Why not?

How many dresses and tops have you seen Ruby and Elle wear? I bet Kay's necklace gets the most usage.

I have no idea.
Even if they showed me what they got,
I wouldn't remember any of it.

No, I can imagine that going to the beach now is a very, very busy event for you!

Yes, how much are Air Ponzi tickets?

Fares are quite reasonable.
Merely an arm, a leg and a firstborn.

Taxes included.

Things to do!!!!!

::yes::

It was pretty cool.

Yikes! That cliff looks dangerous! Gave me chills just thinking about someone slipping.

I really couldn't understand how she could let them go there.
And then, if something had happened, she'd blame...
what? The State of Hawaii?

:sad2:
People.

Oh, no! Then what? Who will amuse us?

Well, there's still a partial day after that...

Then you're on your own!

Got some sleep, took a mini-getaway, missed commenting and about 3 billion pages of chatter. Someday, this busy life will melt away into more free days and time to sit and enjoy...

Neither one of us is into the whole
"shopping" thing.

And yet, that's the first thing you did. :lmao:

They didn't have a puppy gun, so we left.

Buh-bye, Losers.

"Fifteen dollars." Came the reply
"Do you want it?" I asked Kay.
"It's too expensive." She said.

Was Mars having a web special when you picked her out?

a poker chip

I usually need a few more than one.

Oh, the horror.
Say "Oh the horror" for bonus points!

OH THE HORROR!!!! :scared1:

She came out just to make sure I'd find it.
I was struck by her thoughtfulness.

People that go the extra mile are nice to come across.

Waves from the ocean shoot up from a hole.
I'd heard good things.

We have a few of those around here too. They are super fun to watch!

1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?

7:43

2. We launch on an all day excursion.
What is it?

A drive on the Hana Hwy and stops to see a volcano and a black sand beach

3. Kay makes a new best friend.
Figures... She's an animal lover.
What is it?
Hint: Not a dog or cat.

Rabbit

4. We try a local baked treat that Elle thinks
is better than mine! What is it?
Hint: It's not been mentioned before.

Pineapple upsidedown cake

5. Did you see it? Bonus points if you did.

EEK! Yes!

6. How many beaches do we visit?

2

7. What do I eat for supper.
Hint: think local.

Hawaiian plate (lau lau)

Standing by.... Get some sleep!

Gotten.

I've been on the night shift!

Haven't we all? (oh, ok. You're right. Only the "luckiest" of us.)

He did great. He wasn't nervous at all. Our religious ed. director is fantastic and makes it very easy.

Never happen. Trust me.

And yet, that's the first thing you did. :lmao:

Ah, but there's shopping (aka: please just kill me)
and there's shopping (aka: hey look! cool stuff!)

Buh-bye, Losers.

Hasta la bye bye.

Was Mars having a web special when you picker her out?

It was a two for one deal,
but we only wanted one.
So they discounted.

I usually need a few more than one.

All you need is a chip and a chair.

OH THE HORROR!!!! :scared1:

Sorry to have frightened you so!

People that go the extra mile are nice to come across.

And, unfortunately, not all that common.

We have a few of those around here too. They are super fun to watch!

Cool! I'll see one some day, I hope.
