Canada cruise for kids?

Anyone on this board going this summer on the Canada/New Englund cruise? If so are you going with little ones? We are considering this itinerary, but am a little concerned about there not being enough to do in port with a 3 and 6 year old. Since they have not posted the port tours yet, I have no idea of what we would do in port. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would like to try something other than beach destinations, and think Alaska might have to wait until they are at least 10 or 12.

We did the same cruise with our kids last year (sadly, on Carnival) and other than the Carnival factor it was great and the kids had a blast!

We went in July and it was a little chilly at night and the pools were really cold (but they were not heated, either) on the ship, but we all had fun in the towns.

In Halifax we just walked over to the harbor and took a ride on Theodore Too (harbor tour geared for families) and had lunch.

In St. John we took a taxi to the reversing falls, wandered around downtown and had lunch at a great little seafood place that was directly in front of the cruise ship.

It was very relaxed and fun. The kids have asked if we can go again, now that they know Disney is going...

We're doing the July cruise with my then-6 year old DD. She has never failed to have an absolute blast on a Disney cruise. Assuming its like the Med and the repo/Alaska ones we've done, DCL will make sure there are some excursions geared towards families with younger kids. I'm really not concerned about her not having fun. More like having to drag her out of the club!

I'm taking my 11 year old daughter. I had some of the initial reservations at first, but after looking at excursions on other cruiselines and researching the ports, I decided that we can find things she'll enjoy, and I trust Disney to find even better excursions than those that other cruise lines have.
