Can you get an AP rate for a campsite?

Can you do this? Or is it only for cabins? We are planning on getting an AP - that would be great if we could use it for the campground. Thanks.

Up until late summer/fall of 2004, AP rates for the campsites were available the same as any other resort.

Starting last fall, the availability for AP rates dropped to almost nothing at the campsites and were very hard to come by. When the winter AP rates were released for WDW, it seemed like the campsites were not participating at all.

However, this does not mean it won't happen again. My suggestion would be to watch this board and Mousesavers.com. When AP rates are released for your trip dates, try to get one for the campsites. If you get one, then purchase your AP. (That is, unless you were planning on purchasing it anyway).

Right now I have a AAA rate for my campsite in December. I will try and get other discounts at a later date as they pop up, but I'm happy with my AAA rate.

I have an ap rate for this June. The original price was $71.36, but with the ap discount, it is $54.64 (both of those prices were with tax included). They will only give you the discount in 10 day increments. I had to call about 2 days after the codes were released and I am still working on June 11 to June 21. I have June 21 to July 10 at the discounted rate. Good luck!

I also have an AP rate for this June. So it never hurts to try.

Oh, and even if you are told no the first time you call, you can always try again. I got a no on the first call, but the next day, I got the rate. And the following day, I even was able to add a night!

Carol,
When did you get the AAA discount for December? I tried when I made my reservation in February, but there were none to be had. :-(

My first reservation confirmation sheet was printed on March 7th. I booked a partial hookup site.

Camping Cat,

Is it worth getting a AAA membership for the discounts? We have annual passes and got a discount in April. Just curious.

I'm afraid it would be difficult for me to answer that. We have belonged to AAA since the 70's and value it most for the road service we have recieved. We also use their travel services such as the tour books, camping books, trip tics and free traveler's checks. For us, the discounts at WDW are merely the icing on the cake. Only you can decide if their other services are worth the annual fee. Since you have AP's, you might not need AAA for discounts. The AP discount is usually better than AAA. The only problem with AP discounts is that you have to wait until closer to your trip to get one. There are pros and cons for each. I hope I have helped a little. :-)
