Can you get a new Magicband if you already have one?

My daughter recently went on a school trip to WDW and everyone got basic gray Magicbands. We are going as a family in July and she would really like a new color. Is this going to be a problem since she already has one?

Also, very confused about the "special edition" or pre-decorated MAgic Bands that you can buy. Where do you buy them and how can you link them to everything since the ones that come with your Disney reservation are already activated?

1. No problem at all.

2. Many locations within the parks sell MBs, some have different selections for the SE versions. At all locations, CMs will link them to your MDX account and you can use interchangeably any MBs linked.

I have like 6 of them,as long as they're linked to your MDE site you can use them.

If you are staying on site, you will receive magic bands for each person on the reservation. Don't forget to customize them. There is no problem having multiple bands activated for each person. If you are staying off site, you won't get free ones, but you can purchase them as described above.

I second what MinnieMum said--if on site, you will get new ones for your family that you can choose a color.

If off site, buying a Replacement would be the only option.

Yes. You could use a different one everyday of a trip if you wished. A lot of people where whatever band goes with their outfit.

The band itself doesn't hold any information. A lot of people seem to think it does. Like your passes or info is stored within the band. The band is only a "key" to your MDE. It has no stored info, just as long as it's linked to your account, it can retrieve the info provided in your MDE account.

Does anyone know if they will be adding any additional options to the MagicBands for on-site guests?
Like right now they only offer the same 5-6 colors they did when it first started, for customizing?
Any changes for the upcoming future, aka new colors, option to pay extra for a SE band etc.?

No new updates for new options coming soon for customizing for on site or annual passholders.

I doubt they'd do special edition bands as an option. That takes away the point of them being first come first serve in the park and wouldn't be fair to annual passholders staying off site. Unless they had resort specific special bands, say a pic of the grand Floridian on it for instance, but I highly doubt they'd do that. I could see them possibly offering open ended character bands though.

Also been rumored for a while now that the next color band will be purple.

Yeah I understand the SE definitely.
But Open Ended would be a great option, even if they had like a pay this much extra for an open ended band (say a small discount from buying in the park) rather than having the original solid color through customization and then buying an additional band when you get there.

I have read the purple rumors as well.
I am hoping for something before our trip in August.

Right now, they are giving a magic band for every trip provided that you are staying onsite.
