Can you get a government rate at WDW resorts

Not that I know of, but if you qualify for shades of green, which is the military resort, you can book a room at the contemporary for some really cheap prices. They offer overflow rates to other resorts too, so it might be a good idea to check them out. Their website is http://www.armymwr.com/shades/index.html Good luck!

WDW does not offer govt rates but Shades of green is open to some civilan DOD employees (based on availability and you are ranked loooooow on the list). The Swan and Dolphin offer what they call a government rate (used to be $129 but think it's now $139). Federal Government lodging per diem for Orange County is $95.00. Many of the Marriotts (and I'm sure other major chains in the area) do offer the government rate.

The Swan/Dolphin Resort offers a Government Employee rate (federal, state or local) which is currently back to $129 (yippee-I leave tomorrow for 4 nights! ). This rate is also offered to Teachers and Nurses. Great deal for a great location if you qualify!

This information is incorrect. There is no ranking. SoG availability is based on first come, first served. An active duty colonel has no more priority than a retired DoD individual or a 100% disabled vet.

And ALL DoD personnel are eligible for SoG. Perhaps you are confusing the "some" with the Federal workers? Some federal workers (DoD) are eligible to stay, but most are not.

BEsides shades of green, check out the SWan and Dolphin. I beleive you can get rooms for $139 a night, as opposed to 339. HAve fun!

FirstNo: Sorry, my bad. I "help" many of my coworkers with their trips to WDW-- I give them the info on SOG and let them call for themselves. The ones not getting in come back to me and tell me they are placed on waiting lists and given "low priority". I have found that usually the active duty ones are getting in though. I guess I should call myself before listening to others.

No problem!! I know your coworkers aren't being told they are low priority on the list from our people (since there is no priority) so, I can only assume they must be assuming they are low because they aren't active duty military.

As someone who frequently calls guests off the list, just as many DoD personnel are called as military.
