Were staying at the Ramada Eastgate on West US 192. Does anyone know if you can walk across the street or is this a major highway? I'm trying to find out if there is anything within walking distance of our hotel. Any help is always appreciated.

There are traffic lights along 192 and there are bus stops with benches. But it's a very busy 5-lane road (center left turn or divided highway). I don't recall whether there are crosswalks. It would seem like there ought to be at the traffic lights. You would not try crossing 192 apart from crosswalks! Hopefully someone who has been since the construction was all finished could tell you for sure.

You could, but I wouldn't. I-192 is not very pedestrian friendly. You may end up re-enacting Frogger! :)

We did alot of walking up and down 192 last March and had no problems! There are plenty of crosswalks with lights and we had no concerns - and that's with 3 kids! Lots of restaurants and we enjoyed the walk in the evenings.

LOL! It is a bugger to cross, especially in a tourist town where everyone is not necessarily looking at the road and checking for signs to the Magic Kingdom... :earseek:

Thats what I wanted to hear. So there are sidewalks. It seems that they have done some serious construction in this area. Maybe everyone else is recalling the area before the construction. Where did you stay? I'm also glad to hear that there are restaraunts along this strip. Thanks for the info.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Maingate East which is beside Old Towne on 192. We are planning to stay there again next March. It was reasonably priced, quite new, had a nice continental breakfast and a clean pool. We liked being right in the middle of things. Don't get me wrong, there is traffic, but not once did we comment on the craziness of the traffic, and enjoyed walking to get a coffee at Dunkin Donuts in the evening. Walking around Old Towne is fun too, especially when the parks are closed and there isn't much else to do. Have a great trip!

If you drive down the 192 you will see people crossing all the time, we do it with with 2 young children, its easy!
