Can you carry a purse/backpack on the rides?

I am concerned that you can not carry a purse on some of the rides, since some items you would not want to leave in a stroller while riding. If the item fits on your lap, can you take it on most rides? My husband will be carrying a backpack, which we probably can't carry on, so do I need to carry a purse to in order to carry our money, tickets, etc... on the rides? Any advice?

yes, you can take a purse and he can take the backpack. If it is a super motion ride, they have nets that are in front of you that you place your belongings in. If it is a water ride, like kali river rapids, there is a large waterproof containter that sits in the middle of the raft and you put your belongings in there. I have never had a problem bringing our backpack on rides.
ARE YOU REALLY WANTING TO CARRY A PURSE THROUGH WDW?!?!?!? :confused3
In my opinion, that is a fate worse than death -- even though fanny packs go against every law of fashion and every thing I have learned on "what not to wear" -- WDW is made for fanny packs. I bought one in the world years ago and love it!! in the front, there are pockets for fast passes, room key, credit card and id. then there is a big pocket where I keep an emery board, mini hand sanitizer, kleenex, aspirin/rolaids, camera, lip gloss and an index card of our dining reservations. THAT IS IT! Since our kids are older, we no longer carry a backpack. If they want to bring something, they put it in THEIR FANNY PACK!:goodvibes

I figured I could put everything in the backpack, including the wallet, so I may not carry anything. I think one bag is enough.

This is always a dilemma for me too. I don't want to carry a purse and I don't want to wear a fanny pack (adds too much bulk to an already bulky section).

I'm so glad I found this post! I'm planning our first trip to WDW and had no idea you could take a bag on the rides! This makes my planning a whole lot easier! Thanks! :thumbsup2

before I did the fanny pack thing, we only carried 1 backpack for the family.
My DH would have some of the money, keys, and the others would be in the backpack---heaven forbid I was separated from the backpack, I would have DH with keys and money....or when it was just the backpack and me, I still had keys and money!
(ya know, the old saying "don't keep all your eggs in 1 basket!")

I am sure you will be fine with 1 bag....no need for a purse and backpacks are more comfortable and fashionable for your DH to carry too!:thumbsup2

There's a cure for all the problems stated here about not wanting to carry a purse, or a fanny pack. Baggallini!! I looooove my bagallini messenger bag,and there are lots of people on the DIS boards who swear by them. If you buy them in the rip stop nylon they have lots of colors to chose from, at least for the girls. ;) They aren't to big, but big enough to carry everything you need or want, they are a sort of sling type back pack (but different from what you've seen before in slings), which means they go over one arm and your head and the bag rests perfectly and comfortably on the middle of your back.

The Baggallini has lots of pockets and a place to put your small water bottle if you want to carry that, on the strap where it hits about the middle of your chest has a small zipper place to carry your cell phone, and it just so darn cute! If your Pooh size, this will fit you just fine, the straps adjust to Pooh size and small enough to fit my dd8.
If you go to Shoebuy.com you can look at them, also if you really like something there, there's a savings code save10 that will save you 10 dollars off your purchase, and you'll also receive an additional 10% off when you register, free shipping and no taxes, also free returns if you don't like it. So what would have been a $31.45 will turn out to be I think $19.30, not bad at all. I'll tell you how to navigate the site to get to it easy. go to Shoebuy.com, type in baggallini in the search, it will take you to the first page of baggallini items, the first page has some baggallini messenger's but they are the crinkle nylon or something like that, not very pretty colors, but you'll get to at least see if it's what you might like. Then you'll keep hitting the biggest page number at the top of the page until you hit page 20 and 21, that's where you'll see the one's I'm talking about. They are so cute, I've got one in the fuscia pink, and the purple, my mom ordered the periwinkle, and my dd and dn both wanted the aqua blue (or as they call it Little Mermaid blue) :cutie:

If this is bigger than what you want, start backing up page by page and you'll see they have tons of other sizes and shapes (from really small to huge) and colors, you might then find what your looking for. BTW, if you order, order your items in separate orders, so you can get $10+%10 off every item you order, there isn't any shipping so you won't be out anymore money, you'll actually be saving money! :lovestruc Hope this helps!

Oh if you want to know more about them go to the thread on this same page for tips

Thread: Best purse/bag to carry~~~~ I think that's the name of it, you won't be able to miss it there's about 200 posts on it.

I too use a messenger bag from Baggalini. Mine's purple. I call it my "theme park bag" I use it at WDW and for our frequent visits to DLR, and other local attractions. I can carry alot of things in it and it's easy to carry on one shoulder (I don't carry it across my chest). The only problem I have with it is there as so many pockets, etc. that I spend alot of time looking for things in it!

When on rides (when we used a stroller) I just made sure to put anything in my bag that I didn't want to put at risk-camera, video camera, etc. All else stayed in stroller.

I was trying to find the site where you can see what it looks like on someone, if you go to ebags.com and type in baggallini into the search, and then it will have a few links at the top of the page, hit the messenger link (should have 6 next to it) and it will show you all the different messeneger bags, you want to select the lime green one, once you do that you can see on the left side of the page has different options in how you can look at the bag,one of these shows how big it looks on someon, you can also see it in different colors they even have a few in colors you can't get on the other site I was talking about where you get the better discount. If money isn't an issue then you could get the black one or the orange one here. Hope I'm helping.

And if the Baggallini messenger is tool big for you...you can get the Baggallini wallet purse. This is my new vacation bag...I love it. I can carry my cell and camera plus all the important/valuable things. DH carries everything else (water, snacks, change of clothes for DD, wipes, first aid kit) in a backpack that gets thrown on the stroller when we go on rides
