Someone had mentioned to me that you can be a part of the parades...Is this true and how do you get your chance to make your trip more magical? :confused3

In the Magic Kingdom the pick out a family each day to lead the parade (at least they did on our last trip). I believe the family is selected pretty early in the day on Main Street and that it appears random (that is, you don't apply, a cast member approaches you), but I could well be mistaken about this.

The other way to participate is to be a cute child on the parade route--every so often the parade pauses and some children are wisked out to dance with the brooms, dwarves and other characters.

The "Share a Dream" parade used to stop right in front of the LTT, our preferred viewing spot, and in Sept 2003 Hannah was plucked from the crowd not once but twice!!!! The first time was when Snow White and the dwarfs stopped to dance. When the parade stopped one of the dwarfs happened to be right in front of us. He stretched out his hand, and away Hannah went to dance in the street. Talk about a Kodak moment!!! The second time, same parade, was when the big snow globe float with all the princes and princess's stopped, and one of the dancing ladies with the flowers stopped again right in front of us, and stretched her hand out to Hannah. She walked her up and down the length of the float and each of the prince and princess's waved and blew her kisses. She was on clowd nine for the rest of the trip! We were sitting on the parade line in front of the LTT porch with the rocking chairs. Hannah had also had her hair "done" at the Barber Shop that morning so she was all purple and sparkly, I don't know if that helped her stand out or not. It certainly didn't hurt. We tried to replicate it on our last trip last December, sitting in the same spot, but the parade didn't stop at all that time. :confused3 We'll try again when we are there in a few weeks. I wish I could post some pictures it was definately a magical moment. She was only 3 at the time and she still talks about it.

my girls have been part of the MK parade both times we've been to wdw. :earsgirl: princess: Stand near or across the liberty bell.

I hope we are lucky enough to be part of the parade on our honeymoon! :cloud9:

My Daughters were plucked from the crowd as we watched the parade by Fauna from Sleeping Beauty. We couldn't believe it, they were thrilled to bits.
It's just luck I think, being in the right place at the right time.

I have never seen an adult chosen to participate (except for the leading family), only children are whisked out to dance.

When my sister and I were about eight and ten, we were picked to walk around, ring bells and wear sashes in the Beauty and the Beast Christmas parade at MGM. They thought that we were so cute, that they told us to come back the next day and we'd ride in the carriage and dance with Belle and Beast. We were also asked to talk over the MK train, and rode up front in the Monorail with the captains. We were the same height, had the "Dorothy Hamill" haircut, and people thought we were twins. (Still do!)

I hope we can be in the parade... it will be our 3yr old daughter's first time at Disney and our honeymoon......
