Just wondering as we've been going for years and years, and I"m (finally) an AP holder. Do they have a history of my trips that might give me a leg up on a better view room or anything? Just wondering......?

I bet they can see it (but I don't officially know.)

I've been going to WDW for 37 years and have been 40 times and not once has anyone been like, "Hey, you come here a lot! Let's give you an upgrade!"

But if that actually happens to some people, wow, I'll start hoping for that pixie dust! :wizard:🤞

(We got a free upgrade once. 1990. I was 11. We were staying at the Contemporary and they upgraded us to a concierge floor and there were free cookies on the bed wrapped in cellophane and ribbon. We were dazzled. I don't know what that's called but I know that we felt like a million bucks! The experience has never been repeated but I'll always cherish the memory. However, I think it was coincidental and not connected to our annual visits.)

Oh I'm sure they can. Always ask and see what you can get. Perks are available everywhere. Just gotta ask..
When we went to Disneyland last trip...they knew we were there two years prior.. And when we goto POP its always known when we were last there.

Everyone goes to Disney multiple times. Disney might see you’ve been but that doesn’t mean you’ll get pixie dust upgrade to a better room location or view. They can’t make all requests happen either.

There are so many threads recently about asking for or getting a free upgrade, what freebies you might get for a celebration, etc. Disney can’t give everyone an upgrade. Disney can’t give everyone celebrating their first tooth lost, anniversary, pregnancy, birthday, etc a free meal, cake, dessert.

Sure when they happen it’s unexpected and nice. But book what you want view and location wise, put in a request for a room in your category knowing it’s not guaranteed . If you are celebrating and want a cake or dessert buy it. If you get pixie dust be happy but don’t expect, demand or ask for.

My son and I are going in January- it’s my birthday. I went to Disney World the first year it opened- I don’t expect anything (I’ve been at least 15 times to DW and at least that many to Disneyland- they could care less!). And I would not expect or ask for anything

Just enjoy your vacations in the room you book. If you don’t want a parking lot view then don’t book that category of room. If you want CL or tower book that category. If you want Savana view book it

Disney is wonderful but you can’t expect pixie dust all the time.

I imagine they must be able to see your stay history, but I don’t think that will necessarily translate into any type of upgrade. We get “upgraded” from standard to “garden” or “pool/water” a lot at the EP resorts but I imagine it has more to do with their room inventory needs than it does with “upgrading” a guest. I’m actually typing this from a pool view room at BWV and I really wish they had given us the standard I booked because it’s kind of loud. On the other hand, they left us cupcakes the other day and have been doing turn down service every night so not complaining! I just don’t really know if any of this has to do with anything in my stay history.

They don't give preferential treatment in room assignments based on the number of times you've been there. They can't, really. A very large percentage of Disney's guests are repeat visitors, and most of their rooms are booked every night. There just aren't enough unbooked rooms on any given night to be handing out free upgrades to their repeat guests, and it doesn't make business sense for them to do it.

Resorts give upgrades because of their own business needs, not because of anything the guest has done. Oh, the CM will make it sound like they gave you some pixie dust because Disney loves you, because that sounds much nicer than "we had to get you out of your original room because there was a little plumbing mishap this morning, and the bathroom is now ankle-deep in water." :scared:

You are indeed correct into thinking that, within the same category, rooms are different. In fact, the ones you'd prefer (because of the better view) might be those that other guests wouldn't like (maybe because of the floor, distance to bus/shop/pool).

One big word of advice to get the room you want is to call to add requests to your reservation. That's the only way the room assigner will know what room you would prefer, and this is your best chance to have your request granted.

Also, if you're serious about getting your requests granted, I would suggest you double-check by checking in in person when you arrive at your resort. People cancel/change plans all the time, and maybe the room you want wasn't available when your room was assigned, and became available on your check-in day.

I used to do rooms control at the Y&BC. I could've looked up past history but I would have to be looking for it specifically - if I put a name it would just show future visits.

No upgrades for past guests unless I, personally, remembered the guest. The way I upgraded was - hotel needs first (if we had overbooked I would look for 1 nighters to upgrade), honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays in that order.

I remember one time I had a guest call me every day for a month! At first he really bugged the heck out of me since he was taking so much of my time every day. But then he kinda grew on me. He had booked a balcony, I ended up upgrading him to a CL corner room. When he came in he asked specifically for me and gave me a tip (refused 3 times ;)). Once he saw the room (and that it was ready when he c/i at 10AM!) he came back and gave me even more money.

My only upgrade was under the following circumstances while staying at Pop exactly 5 years ago this weekend (Labor Day):

Room #1 had a sparking light switch.....Kapow!!

Room #2 had poor AC and they could not fix it.

At 930pm on my first night they moved me to CSR for the rest of my stay. I believe Pop was fully booked for the holiday weekend.

Umm I think a lot of you are misunderstanding OP. I don't think they want pixie dust or some loyalty treatment, I think they've had a room in the past at x resort that they've stayed in and thought, "wow! This is a nice room for (literally any reason from the view, to accessibility, to the location)." So when they book that resort again, they can make a room request, which are free to make during online check-in but not guaranteed. :P

I went in August 2018 and don't remember the exact room # I stayed in, for example. OP doesn't remember either, I assume, and wants a history of their trips so they can find out the exact room # and request it again for their next trip.

Not sure where you are getting that. OP wrote "
Do they have a history of my trips that might give me a leg up on a better view room or anything"--"better view room" not "the same room I had before."

But chiming in with what everyone else said. Nope. Unless your resort history includes something over the top like buying out every Poly bungalow for a family reunion, I can't see how it would make a difference. Disney has a LOT of high-spending repeat customers.

Why I always take a picture of the room number. Saves headaches later.

Good to hear from someone who actually worked at Disney since there always seems to be a lot of guessing/conjecture on this subject. Those of us who have never worked at Disney have no idea how/if their database stores historical room data (or for how long.)

Would be good if the OP clarified the original intent of the question since it can be interpreted two different ways.
