can we walk to the Atlantis?

Is it necessary to take a taxi to the Atlantis? I don't mind a little walk and haggling over the fare with reckless cab drivers doesn't sound too enjoyable. Also, from the Atlantis, how far is it from town? Do we need to taxi there also? I'm hoping to only spend 1/2 day there so we can enjoy the ship in the PM.

No, you would not be able to walk from the ship to the Atlantis Resort but don't worry about taking a taxi. It's the way to go.

Walk down to the end of the dock and you'll find taxi drivers there asking if you want to go to Atlantis Paradise Island. Say yes!

We were on the 2/10 Wonder and took a taxi to the Resort and back for $4.00 pp each way. There was no haggling over the fare. Both drivers were very courteous and eager to answer our questions about the Resort or Nassau. Going over we were in a limo with a very nice family from Tenn. and coming back we were in a van with a nice young couple from Penn.

We returned to the ship for lunch and then got off again and visited the new Straw Market, just a couple of blocks from the dock.The huge old Straw Market burned to the ground last fall. The new one is just a shadow of its former self. The town is right there - a short easy walk.

Water taxis are another option, although we have never taken one...we just do the "regular" taxi. We have heard that the water taxis are overloaded and that it is a far walk from the dock where they let you off to Atlantis. We have had good luck with the other taxis, although you should definitely agree on a price first (and they might try to get another $1 out of you for the bridge toll on the way out...sometimes it is included in the fare, and sometimes they spring it on you when you get to the booth).
