Can we *fit*??

There is a lovely balcony with rocking chairs overlooking the savanna just off the lobby of Kidani - buy your kids & in-laws dessert (we get a box of bon-bons from the lobby store) and sit there and watch the animals in the evening. It's a nice end to the day.

AKV is a beautiful resort! Two bathrooms, king bed, sleeper couch and sleeper chair!! Full kitchen which is handy for leftovers, washing cups, making coffee in the morning! AKV is an 'indoor', enclosed hallway resort. There are plugs outside of the rooms and our guest with a scooter parked it in the hallway. The one bedrooms also have a nice balcony, which is a great place to have coffee!!

One of the nicest reason for a one bedroom is so that you can put the kids down in the master and the adults can watch tv, visit or just have some quiet time.

The only negative to AKV is that they don't have a QS restaurant. We asked to be centrally located when possible, so we could get to the pool area or to AKR to eat at Mara which has very good food!!

I'm going back and forth. We're planning 2 days at MK and 2 at Epcot, then 1 at AK and none at HS. Poly is seems really convenient for MK & Epcot. Is it worth being sardines to save on transit time? We normally open & close the park but will need to go slower with the grandparents. At Poly, I could see taking mid-day breaks but AKV seems kind of far away to do that. Maybe at AKV we'd just end the day early? My husband said today that he wishes we could take back our invite. It was supposed to just be the mother-in-law but now with the husband, it's getting complicated!

I have a really hard time considering Monorail Transportation convenient..it's unreliable and hot...the only park that has a real edge on MK entry is BLT and the only one with an Edge in Epcot is BC .. Everything else is a 30 minute commute...don't let this be your hang up!!

You would probably opt to watch the animals instead of the MK fireworks one night..and the grand parents might not always venture back out with you (let them enjoy the great restaurants one night if you want to get around faster!)..but there is NO way staying at Poly would be better For a party of 6 IMO!!

As for sleeping arrangements - my 2 year olds would never sleep in the pack n play...and we usually all go to bed when we get back at 10pm - so no worries in my family if a kiddo used the sleeper chair..your mileage may vary..

Thanks for this. I've never stayed on the monorail so I've probably glorified it a bit in my head. AKV does sound very relaxing. I'll just have to switch around some of my planning. I have 201 days so there's plenty of time. Now I just need a commitment. Is it that hard to say yes to Disney?!

NO!! You're not talking about HOURS in time difference. Minutes. Only minutes. AKV is not "that far out". People talk about it like it's in the next county or something. Not the case.

You mentioned needing to fit a scooter in. For me, this is the deal breaker. You not only need to fit it into the room, it needs to be parked by an outlet to charge every night. The Poly studio can fit your family and you can fold the stroller or put it in the hallway. You need to figure out where that scooter is going to be situated overnight... the larger bathroom might be a possibility if you have someone who can maneuver it in an out of the tight corners.

Kidani 1 bedroom is an excellent alternative... 2 full bathrooms and plenty of room for the scooter even in a non-disabled room.

The way I look at it is:

Transportation = Transportation no matter what kind it is. Whether you are taking monorail, bus, or boat - all require you to trek to the stop, wait in the line, load, take the ride, and disembark.

It's true in the monorail (and probably the Ferry?)you don't have to fold up the stroller but still not a given (if your kids are like mine and want to sit in a monorail seat - we often fold ours to make room in the car for others - but not a reason to stay at Poly!

And when my oldest was 2 - his favorite thing every day was riding the bus! Ha! It's a good thing the rest of us had plenty of other favorite things to fill in the time!!

And even better that you are not going to AK this trip - because you all can still experience some of the safari feeling right from your resort!

If they decide to join you - don't hesitate to move - it will be okay!!

We went in February and my son LOVED the buses. I think it was something about not being in a car seat. We even got a toy Disney bus as his souvenir.

I didn't even think about charging it. Yea, we're going to have to do AKV.

I need to find that thread about room availability as the dates get closer. I have a feeling they're going to take their time making up their minds.... I also need to work on my patience <3

I don't know if this is still true, but the nice thing about the AKV buses is that they only stop at AKL and AKV. Not like the other resort buses that usually have at least one stop, i.e. WL - Poly - GF.

After all the worry, my in-laws backed out. I never thought I'd have to try to convince someone to come to Disney. But, I've moved on After looking at points & resorts, I still switched to AKV and we'll be in a studio. We'll save 45 points! Thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice. I'm excited to try the resort and we'll be at "home" in Poly in February.
