Can this work?

Ok so here is my scenario. We are taking a big family trip in September and we will have two rooms. A GV and a 1bdroom. Obviously dinner and all activities will happen in the GV. Here is my problem. The family members in the 1 bedroom wont have access to open the door in the GV as there Magic Band can only be setup to open the room they are assigned to. I already called and they are telling me there is no way to do this.

So my thought is can I assign another family member who is not coming to the GV reservation configure there magic band and then use that band to pass around to the family members in the 1 bedroom so they are able to open up our GV door?

That would probably work. Also, will anyone in the GV have additional MagicBands from a previous trip. Those will work as well.

I don't see how an old band will work unless the front desk gives it access to the new room?

All bands are suppose to work on a reservation unless deactivated. That said, it was a mess last August when I was there. Heck, they had issues with bands from BC when I checked into BLT for the 2nd half of a trip. Eventually they worked, sorta. The problem is a Disney IT issue.

Are you at maximum occupancy on the GV? If not, just make up some names and you'll get extra bands that will open the door.

No Im not which is what I was going to do which is why I was asking will this work.

I always take 3 or 4 different color bands for DH and me. They all have always worked.

I read somewhere that they are still printing keys if you request it. Perhaps that would be easier than multiple MB and people in multiple rooms - I don't think MB likes that.

We tend to get ours all confused I suggest color code and code naming extras MB. For example extra keys for the GV key named as GV1....

Yes, just get some bands for "Mickey" and "Minnie" or "Walt" and "Roy." Maybe set them up as children and don't set a PIN so they can't accidentally charge something back to the wrong room.

It sounds like no dining plan is involved so I'd do what you mentioned in your first post. Just add a person who is already on your MDE to the reservation.

Also, if someone in the GV has an old band it most likely will work but their are glitches now and then.
