Can someone tell me about Expedition Everest?

I went to WDW in Sept '04 for the 2nd time (first trip was back in '76 when I was just 10). I must admit AK was not a real big hit with the kids (11, 9 & 5), and by the afternoon they wanted to go back to MGM or MK. I must admit it was probably my least favorite park as well. Anyway, I will be going to WDW on a short 2 day trip and was wondering is it worth going to AK just to do this ride. I loved ToT and R'nR roller coaster, so EE a real big thrill ride worth the trip to AK alone? How long of a ride is it? How long would the line be on 10/19-10/20/06? ANy info would be great!

Thanks Y'All

Well the ride is definately worth checking out- It's now one of our top ten in Disney. Its a great coaster. I guess the main question is do you have a park hopper or AP. If you do I would definately check it out. If not I wouldn't buy an AK pass just for it. Although others may disagree.

I haven't been on EE yet, but from what I've heard I can't wait! Most people seem to love EE.

EE is an incredible ride. It has added so much to AK in my opinion, although I have always loved that park. I agree, if you have hoppers than for sure give it a try. Being a new attraction with a good reputation for being worth the trip to AK, the lines build. Arrive at the park early and head there first. Of course everyone else does the same thing but if nothing else you can get a fastpass for a pretty early return time. In May we were able to arrive early one day and ride four times in a row with less than five minute waits by arriving early. Then we started fastpassing and ended up riding it 7 times in all that day. I guess you can tell we liked it! And last but not least, don't count out AK for your family just yet! I have found that Disney parks can really grow on you, sometimes it takes more than one visit. Its been a couple of years since you were there, who knows, your kids might like AK the best next trip.

Oh, and EE is about a three minute ride I believe.

Thanks for the fast replies! My kids are not going this trip (in fact they don't even know I'm going-hehehe). Thus, perhaps I should check this out for them. I have not bought tickets yet, and was trying to debate if I wanted to try this ride or not, and that would decide wheather I bought just a 2 day ticket or a 2 day hopper ticket as I think we'll (my best friend from grade school-no hubbies and no kids-yippee!) spend most of the time at MGM and MK.

Thanks Y'All

You can watch the whole ride at youtube.com

Just go there and type: "Expidition Everest" into the search engine. It shows everything. It looks pretty awesome to me! :dance3:

My DH and I were at AK before it opened. We had every intention of getting to EE first thing...so did every other single person there... It was NUTS. People were RUNNING flat out to get there. I just kept thinking...it's a roller coaster...it's not going anywhere and there is that beautiful little thing called FASTPASS!!! By the time my DH and I waded through the crowd to get there (this is first thing in the morning too!) We got our fastpass and then wandered into the totally deserted rest of the park. When it was time to ride EE, we wandered back and got on the coaster in a very civilized manner! ;) We LOVED IT!!! Even though it made us a bit dizzy!

Expedition Everest is an AWESOME roller coaster, and I wouldn't want to miss it...but I'm certainly not going to run like a maniac to be the 302 person in line for it. :rotfl: Fastpass is such a blessing! :woohoo:
