Can someone please run this math for me?

I am coming up with something different than Disney is quoting me.

I have a 30/35/40 pin code.

5 Adults, 1 child (3-9)
9 nights
June 21-June 30
2 rooms
Pop Century
standard rooms
10 day MYW passes
QSDP

They are telling me $4897.39. I come up with less. Can someone figure this out or at least break it down for me so I can figure out where they got this amount from? Please and thank you :)

I am not sure how you figured your total cost. We had the same question when we booked our vacation. The 30/35/40 is only off the room rate not the entire package. Did you ask the CM how they were coming up with the quote they gave you?

By far the biggest cost there is going to be your themepark tickets and your dining... which are NOT discounted.

Also don't forget they frequently add the vacation insurance which averages 100$ but sometimes can be more depending on the number of adults on the trip.

The 10 day park tickets are $258.80 per adult and $223.65 per child. ($1,517.65)

QSDP plan is $31.99 per adult per night and $9.99 per child per night. ($1,529.46)

Pop Century rack rate for a standard room for your dates is $119 on a weekday and $134 on a weekend not counting the 12.5% tax. You have three weekend night (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and 6 weekday nights. (Rack rate $1,116 plus tax). (With 30% off $781.20 plus 12.5% tax= 878.85)

$1517.65 Tickets
$1529.46 Dining
$878.85 Room

Total $3925.96

You should also make sure they didn't add in insurance which they usually do. The cost for insurance is somewhere about $75 per adult (I forget the exact amount).

I figured out my discount off the rack rate for room only.

I can't even get his figure to come up even if I price it on Preferred location rooms. :confused3

He said he just puts it in the computer and it spits out a price.

Room # 1 - Two Adults .. 1 Child / 9 Nights = $929. (this is 25% off ) - STANDARD ROOM

Room # 2 - Three Adults ........./ 9 Nights = $1030. (This is 25% off) - STANDARD ROOM

Tickets : $1517.65

Dining : $1439.55 = $89.91 = $1529.46

TOTAL : $5005

Presuming you were getting the extra 5% off .. that would save you about another 100$ .. therefore..your quote of 4897 seems right on the money.

Perhaps you forgot to include the extra 'charge' for a 3rd person in one of the rooms?

Just a guess but I had a similar situation , was told my pin was 45% off villas, when I booked my figure was lower than what the CM quoted me , I even asked her and that is with the 45% off the room rate and she said yes, I booked but when I got off the phone I checked and I only got 40% off the room rate.....perhaps instead of the 30% off the room you only were given only 25% or 20% off ????

I actually have 2 rooms but when I figure in an extra room to your figures it is much closer to what I'm coming up with.

I bet he was adding in the insurance. Or maybe a preferred room for one of the rooms. I didn't even think about the insurance. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Good catch. I forgot to double the room rate. If you add in a second room you get a lot closer to what he gave you.

I configured one room - 3 adults 1 child
Regular - 1340
25% off - 1005

Next room - 2 adults only
Regular - 1239
25 % off - 929.25

10 day MYW Passes
Adult - 258.80
258.80*5=1294
Child - 223.65

5 Adults 1 Child=1517.65

QSDP
31.99*9 nights=288
288*5 adults=1440

Child 9.99*9 nights=89.91

QSDP for 5 adults 1 child=1529.91

TOTAL
Room with 25 % off=1005
Room with 25 % off=929.25
Tickets=1517.65
Dining=1529.91
TOTAL=4981.76

Hopefully this is right...this is just what I pulled together from the WDW website.

Another good point - there is an additional charge when there is more than 2 adults in a room. I completely forgot to add in that charge.

As you can see.. several people here with a pretty decent skill set.. have all come up with prices slightly different than yours (higher) and at the 25% off rate even..

You're pretty close with the rate your getting to pretty much what you should get.

I will add.. you would save a LOT more if you could get the FREE QS dining package on your trip. Some folks have reported success by just calling and asking.

Hmmm...
I think I'll call after the kids are done with homework and see about getting the free QSDP added instead.

I mentioned 5 adults, but it is 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 17, 14, 11, 8)
I didn't even think to mention their ages other than the 8 year old since I thought in Disney's eyes they pay adult prices anyway, lol.

Probably the guy was quoting me with 5 actual adults, the insurance, a cheaper discount, and possibly a preferred room.

Who knows :confused3

Hopefully when I call to see about free QSDP they can explain their math to me :)

Thanks for the help guys!! :worship:

Not quite ... those kids do NOT incur extra adult charges in the room.

THEREFORE.. I can shave a few bucks more off my quote and arrive at darned near EXACTLY what they gave you.. (allowing for the extra 5%)

What was the number you had come up with?

FREE QSD would save you almost $1550!... That's a lot more than the few hundred you're saving on the room.

I came up with a total of $4781....

Room Cost - $119/nt for 7 nights; $134/nt for Fri/Sat ($1101 X 2 = $2202)

$2202 - 661 (30%) = $1541 + 193 (tax) = $1734

10 day MWY base tickets = $1517

QSDP $32 X 5 = $160 X 9 nts. = $1440

QSDP $10 X 1 X 9 = $90

$1734 + 1517 + 1440 + 90 = $4781.

OMG...I just figured out why everything I was doing was coming up wrong.
My blonde is showing. Oooooops. :rolleyes1

I was figuring out the 30% off discount from the room rate I already have booked.
I currently have a room only ressie for $1486. (CM rate, thanks to my inlaws)

No wonder everything was coming up cheaper when I was running my numbers.

I still think I will come up ahead if I can get that free QSDP code added to a regular package. Was going to get tickets from undercover and pay oop for our meals.
