Planning a trip on The Fantasy after 2 trips on the Magic.

If you have a child that accidentally falls off the tube and lands in the tunnel without a tube is the current really strong that it will knock them down and pose a drowning risk or will they just be stuck? I am sure Disney has cameras throughout the ride and can stop the water flow. The ride seems generally very safe, but I did not know if anything like this ever happened before?:scared:

I have child who does not have a lot of strength in her right arm and does not have an incredibly strong grip, but I don't want want her to miss out on an experience she can't handle. Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but I would say to have someone ride with her.

You can ride with her...

They have to be a minimum of 42" to ride with someone and 54" to ride alone (though you can still ride double)

People have gotten stuck in the tube and they have shut it down to help them out. I don't know exactly what happened. You go faster the more weight you have on the raft, so maybe it was a single kid rider who met the height requirement but didn't weigh enough to keep it going. ???

Yes something could happen. Just make sure they don't touch the "butt". :)

They have a camera to watch the riders on the ride at the top of the slide. They also have a control to slow down or stop the flow of water. I witnessed them slow down the water flow for a scared (accompanied) child when we were on the Fantasy last month.

I just watched the video of the ride. It doesn't seem too likely to happen since it seems to move slower than I thought. Great Information! I will likely ride with DD just to be safe and hear her laugh through the whole thing! :worship:

In Feb we were coming back to the ship from Castaway Cay when I noticed a problem with the AD. It had been stopped and emptied of water, and as we looked up, we noticed that there was a CM (wearing the bright yellow shirt, so possibly a kid's club CM) stooped over and walking through the tube as it went off the ship. Behind the CM was a child, holding on to the CM's waist. They were walking, very very VERY slowly, through the tube.

Talking to people later, the child had become stuck. So they emptied the water, send the CM up there, and the CM walked the child down. Or up, not sure.

The picture I put on photobucket isn't totally clear, but it was obvious by how close the child was and the posture of the child that the child was most definitely NOT looking down. I assumed the CM had told the child to just hold onto the CM and not look, because walking through that clear tube would probably freak out the best of us.

I don't think I actually posted this in my trip report, because who wants to think about such things, but I think it's best to post even my very poor picture, just to make sure people know that things CAN go awry up there. So be careful who we are sending alone on the tubes. If they would have a serious problem with this, they probably don't want to risk it.

CM and child are to the left in the tube; you can barely see them in my shot taken in a "that's amazing, look how well they take care of people, I want to remember this moment" moment. Wasn't intending to "rubberneck" though I realize it can easily be taken that way. Just thought it was amazing, how the CM was taking care of the problem.

We saw that happen on the dream too.

We saw a CM climbing up the Aquadunk on the Magic. Can't imagine it's possible for someone to get stuck in there, but we couldn't tell what he was doing. Maybe just cleaning? But it was on an afternoon sea day, so I wouldn't think they would shut it down for cleaning then.

You don't get stuck as in wedged in the tube, you get stuck if you don't weigh enough to continue your forward momentum in a flat spot or you fall out of the raft and the water just goes around you while you are sitting in the tube.

If either of those happen, like in the PP's picture, they stop the water and send someone up to walk you out.

This happened several times when we were on the Dream last year. It was very windy the day we experienced the biggest problems. The CM at the start of the line told us that if a child is tall enough to go alone but doesn't weigh very much, the wind may cause their raft to flip over. We witnessed this at least 3 times. None of the kids seemed particularly scared. More embarrassed because everyone was watching the goings-on. I guess the CMs eventually decided enough was enough and stopped letting children ride alone. They paired them up with other kids or asked them to ride with their parent.

We have seen people get stuck on the raft because they were too light to carry on the forward momentum. When it's windy there is more issues with this and they usually have a sign/CM saying that no single riders are allowed at this time.

I am 5`6" weight is 190# and I got stuck for a few seconds. I was able to bounce the raft and continue but could imagine some kids not being able to do that. I was a single rider and the raft seemed to ride high in the front.

Maybe a poop scoop! we've seen it happen before!!

My DS8 at 78 pounds got stuck in September. He was by himself. I was told that sometimes if the kid is light weight the craft will stick. But the response to shut the water off was extremely quick and a CM got him out quickly. We rode the next day together and I helped bounce him right on through.

We saw someone get stuck this week. Their raft had a leak and deflated as the ride went on. They shut it off, got them off and then had to run the water for about 10min before they would let anyone on again.
