:Okay dear dis'ers my DH is not into helping me decide where to stay on our Sept. trip but with the free dining on the my way package how could i resist but I digress :goodvibes I originally booked CBR for 5 nites and got a rate of $800. was pretty pleased..then when DH started his "I'm tired of WDW speal :sad2: " so I rebooked to WL thinking that maybe if he got a taste of deluxe he might feel like he's able to relax more :teeth: (my intentions are good). this price came in at $1300. So I've gone from $800 to $1300 and now I'm wondering if I should bump a little more and go for Savanah view at AKL or if I should hit the breaks altogether and rent points on DVC. Any input is greatly appreciated.
We have a 12yo Disney freak ( just like her momma) and a 19month old PIT (Princess in training ;) ) and we don't want to do commando parks we want a great pool with a bar for DH  and easy access to parks (particularly MK or MGM) and we'd like to go to a water park. ANy recommendations for a 1yo for water parks greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for my friends on this board to save my family vacation... many thanks and :wizard:

I'd stick with WL. We've been there twice and it's in about a tie for our fave resort. Poly is the other. WL would be far and away our favorite, except for the fact that the Poly has slightly easier transportation options.

But WL has, hands down, I think, the best theming of all the WDW resorts. It has a great indoor bar, next to one of the restaurants. It has a very nice pool with a pool bar next to it. Although it's not quite the monorail, WL DOES have a boat to take you to MK. You can't go wrong choosing WL.

My vote would be Savannah view at AKL! My wife's alot like your husband, she likes WDW, but she's not always up for it. The only way I can get her to say yes everytime, is to book a room with a view at AKL. You're looking to take it easy? Great! AKL is the perfect hotel for that. It's quiet, has a terrific pool, and the spa treatments are incredibly relaxing! IMO, Jiko is the finest restaurant in WDW and we've eaten at them all, including a couple times at V&A. No others compare. As far as doing a little happy hour action, the pool bar is fun and friendly, and Victoria Falls, the resorts lounge, is way cool. We've never had problems with the WDW transportation while staying there, but have read about a few DISers who have. If you're taking everything slow...who cares?!? Fodor's 2005 listed AKL one of the World's Top Hotels and one of the Best Hotels for Kids in their poll, no other WDW hotel can say that! That's what I would do if I were you! ::MickeyMo

It sounds as though pricing might be a factor, but if not, why not try one of the Epcot resorts (BWI, YC, or BC). The YC/BC have the absolute best pool on property, and you're still within walking distance of the Boardwalk for entertainment. You can walk/boat to Epcot or MGM. Staying at YC/BC keeps you away from the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk if you wish.

The BWI, on the other hand, gets you up close and personal with all that the Boardwalk has to offer. It's also a nice walk to MGM or Epcot, and again you have the boating option. There's also the Community Hall building at BWI which will have things for the kids to do from time to time.

We are staying at WL and YC on our trip in December. I'm somewhat psyched to finally experience what everyone raves about, the Christmas décor at WL.

Whatever you decide...Have Fun!!

Geez, I'm fickle. I was reading this thread and about to post I think OP should pick the WL and then Laugh O Grams gave such a persuasive pitch on the AKL I think he has me sold for our next trip. The only reason I was thinking WL was you said that you wanted close proximity to MK or MGM and the WL has a pleasant ferry ride to the MK, love the pool and that courtyard. Oh, I wish I was in a chair by the pool there right now waiting for the geyser to go off. Have only visited AKL and not stayed there but I don't think you can go wrong with either. Enjoy your trip and the planning.

I would go with the WL but check to see if you can afford a court yard view. My hubby is my Disney trip complainer and on your last trip we stayed WL court yard view. He loved sitting on the balcony at night and relaxing. Some nights he was out there so long I wondered if he fell asleep out there. It's a very lovely and relaxing view.

Take Care

I vote for the Epcot area DVC resorts: BWI or BCV. If you stay Sun-Thurs. you get a better deal. Boardwalk Villas are a little easier to come by, it seems. You will like the convenience of the location since you will probably want to return to your room for nap and pool time. Another good Epcot area resort is the Swan/Dolphin. They offer some good deals, and they have a nice pool with a bar.

WL is such a beautiful resort! And so very relaxing! :rotfl: I would keep it and plan a nice dinner at AP while you are there!

If you want relaxing as well as theming I'd go for WL. We stayed there in January in a courtyard view room and could sit on our balcony every night and watch the Electrical Water Pageant go by. The bars were fine and theming wonderful. We did a split stay that trip and also spent a few nights at the AKL in a savanna view. It was also nice and relaxing, but both my adult son and my GD preferred the ambience at the WL, plus you'd have the boat to the MK there. AKL just seemed a little remote.

Saying that, I rented DVC points and stayed at the BWV in May and loved it. The Boardwalk at night is wonderful and you are only a short walk or boatride away from either Epcot ( and all those wonderful Epcot restaraunts  ) or MGM. Oops, I guess I didn't help much did I? In your circumstance though I think I would go with the WL.

we loved WL and we loved AKL.....
but between the 2, we prefer the theming and location of WL......
something about it is so very relaxing.....
and your husband might enjoy renting a water mouse or just sitting and looking out at the lake...

and that boat ride to MK is also very relaxing....

as for the Epcot resorts.....it really depends on you.....it's a matter of taste..
the only reason we ever stay at the yacht club is to use the pool...
so usually we stay there for a few days each visit....other than the pool i much prefer the 'secluded' feeling of WL......

We were there in April with our 2 year old, and she LOVED the kiddie play area in Typhoon Lagoon. It was so perfect for little ones. Tiny splash areas, and some little slow, mostly flat slides, that a tiny child could sit on and slowly slide down. Also, my husband and I could take turns being with her while one of us took the older two to the big kid stuff. It was just perfect! :sunny:

Thanks all for your opinions...the decision is made and its drum roll please ... Wilderness Lodge water view.... hopefully hubby will catch the disney sickness that we all so embrace... :cool1:

BTW - Have I been tagged? :smooth:
