For those who have commented on it just being a part of the human body and that "heaven forbid" we see any part of nature...I'm sorry, but that's the lamest reasoning I've ever heard. So if someone were to all of a sudden decide to start exposing their genitalia to the children at the water parks would you then start using the same reasoning? After all...it's just the human body and a part of "nature." I mean seriously...if you're going to use that "reasoning" with butts clearly hanging out, take out your reasoning to the logical conclusion. Because according to those who use this reasoning, it's merely just a little skin that's simply the human body and a parrt of nature. There are many things that are "natural"...doesn't mean we all have to see your natural stuff.

It's not wrong or pathetic if parents (or those who are not parents) actually prefer modesty.
And for saying that children don't care...trust me, they eventually WILL care if they don't already. And I don't think it's anyone's right to decide whether or not a parent can make the decision on what THEY will care about for their children.

Yes, a persons genitalia are EXACTLY the same thing as a few inches of butt cheek... And it's not like a person in a thong is going around "exposing" themselves to children...

Are they exposed? Yes... But your statement made it sound as if they were going up to a child and saying: "Hey, kid, look at my butt."

I have to agree with you. Here in the US we tend to be very very very conservative when compared to the rest of the world. On travels I've never seen a European child or Caribbean child go "OH NO! Theres a butt there mommy!"

So basically, in WDW, thongs are probably frowned upon by the staff. Also they honestly are (and this is from a thong wearer people) VERY impracticle for a water park. A beach is one thing where they are not a bother but I want something between my tushy and that concrete!

After all, after a day at a water park you still want your butt to look nice, not scraped up by concrete!

Last year I went to the water parks naked. The next thing I know there are a bunch of Animal Kingdom employees jumping on me. They thought I was one of their apes that escaped. It actually worked out good because they shot me with a tranqulizer gun and I had a nice nap for the remainder of the day.

They apologized for shooting me in the rear and told me that the policy in the parks was to wear some sort of swimming trunks. I wont make that mistake again.

Indeed, why "should" we be? But the simple fact of the matter is that we are and that's just the way it is. It's all well and good to want to change this attitude, but the place to try to change this isn't at a family water park. FWIW, I feel the same way you do, I just don't agree that it's such a good idea in this case.

And BTW, if you don't think my kids will notice a bare bottom, you're obviously not around kids too much You won't even have to look at the face of my 14 yr old to see if he's noticing. The 9 yr old, yes, you could probably just see it in her eyes

It's possible.. but its also possible that this is a genuine question. I've often registered for msg boards just to have one question answered that I couldn't find the answer to elsewhere.

The best answer I've seen yet. This OP can't be for real - we are talking about Disney. I just wonder if someone were to wear a thong to a Disney water park would they be asked to leave? I'm not a prude but I think they should be. Disney is the epitome of family vacations and I don't think a thong would be appropriate at all.

There is a not-so-fine line between nudism, and exhibitionism!! The former is simply feeling comfortable enough to wear either no clothing, or revealing clothing. The latter is getting some sort of perverse gratification from showing yourself to people - which I don't think people that wear revealing clothing are doing.

I really have no opinion as to the original question. If that's what you're comfortable wearing - then wear it. If I've seen one butt, I've seen 'em all, so I don't personally find it offensive.
