For those who have commented on it just being a part of the human body and that "heaven forbid" we see any part of nature...I'm sorry, but that's the lamest reasoning I've ever heard. So if someone were to all of a sudden decide to start exposing their genitalia to the children at the water parks would you then start using the same reasoning? After all...it's just the human body and a part of "nature." I mean seriously...if you're going to use that "reasoning" with butts clearly hanging out, take out your reasoning to the logical conclusion. Because according to those who use this reasoning, it's merely just a little skin that's simply the human body and a parrt of nature. There are many things that are "natural"...doesn't mean we all have to see your natural stuff.

It's not wrong or pathetic if parents (or those who are not parents) actually prefer modesty.
And for saying that children don't care...trust me, they eventually WILL care if they don't already. And I don't think it's anyone's right to decide whether or not a parent can make the decision on what THEY will care about for their children.

OK if ANYONE'S booty was hanging out, big small male female hairy smooth or otherwise... my kids would be OBSESSED with pointing it out "MOM that person is showing their BOOTY" "You can see his/her BUTT" "EWW GROSS" (my 10 yr old boy looking at an attractive female butt would say EWW but blush and gravitate towards it like a fly to the light"). It's bad enough that thongs panties peek out of low rise jeans ... junk or no junk keep a lid on that trunk, that's my motto of the day

This is probably the funniest thing I've ever read on these boards :rotfl2:

Yes, a persons genitalia are EXACTLY the same thing as a few inches of butt cheek... And it's not like a person in a thong is going around "exposing" themselves to children...

Are they exposed? Yes... But your statement made it sound as if they were going up to a child and saying: "Hey, kid, look at my butt."

They are merely wearing a less-modest bathing suit option...
Is it wrong for someone to have a different concept of modesty than you?
Sounds like it...

I'm fine with you view, wear a poncho if ya'd like...
The majority of the world outside of the US ( and I am terribly patriotic so don't make this some weird patriotism argument ) are comftorable with human bodies and human sexuality, why should we be so different...

If you'd like to cover yourself and your children, but all means please do.
That is your choice, and I have no quarrels with it. I just have a different view on the subject.

As I recall, wearing one is against the written rules (darn it).

This thread is starting to gross me out. Eeeewwwww!

I can't get into a pool if I start thinking about being in the same water with other people's private parts floating around in there too. YUCK!!

Kudos to the Troll, (oops) OP, for pushing all the right buttons
for such an amusing & lengthy thread :smooth:

I suggest "Can I wear a thong?" can now be added to:
Refillable Mugs - when, where, how often can they be used?
Value Resorts - how can I get the 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th person in?
Pools - which ones are better than the ones where I'm staying,
& how do I avoid the pool police?
Is there room on top of the TV cabinet for my:
microwave, toaster, toaster oven, waffle maker, coffee maker...?
I'll resist comments re:Gay Days & Dame Doris (or whatever her name is).

ETA: rinkwide, I loved that sketch on SNL!!

If you have a picture of yourself in a thong feel free to post it in this thread so we can all have some idea if it would be a "good" idea for you to wear one or not. :rolleyes1

I have to agree with you. Here in the US we tend to be very very very conservative when compared to the rest of the world. On travels I've never seen a European child or Caribbean child go "OH NO! Theres a butt there mommy!"

It's just different concepts of modesty ya know?

But as they say... When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

So basically, in WDW, thongs are probably frowned upon by the staff. Also they honestly are (and this is from a thong wearer people) VERY impracticle for a water park. A beach is one thing where they are not a bother but I want something between my tushy and that concrete!

After all, after a day at a water park you still want your butt to look nice, not scraped up by concrete!

Don't wear one if you're going the same weekend that we're going. I have a hard enough time keeping my husband focused. :rotfl:

Last year I went to the water parks naked. The next thing I know there are a bunch of Animal Kingdom employees jumping on me. They thought I was one of their apes that escaped. It actually worked out good because they shot me with a tranqulizer gun and I had a nice nap for the remainder of the day.

They apologized for shooting me in the rear and told me that the policy in the parks was to wear some sort of swimming trunks. I wont make that mistake again. :confused3

I cant see why a thong would not be allowed. I have to echo some of the other posters and say dont do it if you have a weight problem, that would really put me off my lunch.

Aside from a thong maybe not being the most appropriate thing to wear to a Disney water park, I would be afraid of losing it on a water slide. :earseek:

I also wonder whether the OP might be a troll.

Let the thread die.

Indeed, why "should" we be? But the simple fact of the matter is that we are and that's just the way it is. It's all well and good to want to change this attitude, but the place to try to change this isn't at a family water park. FWIW, I feel the same way you do, I just don't agree that it's such a good idea in this case.

And BTW, if you don't think my kids will notice a bare bottom, you're obviously not around kids too much :rotfl2: You won't even have to look at the face of my 14 yr old to see if he's noticing. ;) The 9 yr old, yes, you could probably just see it in her eyes :earseek:

It's possible.. but its also possible that this is a genuine question. I've often registered for msg boards just to have one question answered that I couldn't find the answer to elsewhere.

At any rate, I think the OP has some semblance of an answer...

The best answer I've seen yet. This OP can't be for real - we are talking about Disney. I just wonder if someone were to wear a thong to a Disney water park would they be asked to leave? I'm not a prude but I think they should be. Disney is the epitome of family vacations and I don't think a thong would be appropriate at all.

Appropriateness aside, why would you *want* to wear a thong on a waterslide?!

Yeeeouch! :earseek:

I respectfully disagree.

There is a not-so-fine line between nudism, and exhibitionism!! The former is simply feeling comfortable enough to wear either no clothing, or revealing clothing. The latter is getting some sort of perverse gratification from showing yourself to people - which I don't think people that wear revealing clothing are doing.

I really have no opinion as to the original question. If that's what you're comfortable wearing - then wear it. If I've seen one butt, I've seen 'em all, so I don't personally find it offensive.
