Can I Vent?

ARGH!!!!!!!!

From my post last week some of you know we arent too happy with the way BIL has been acting toward DH lately, so keep that in mind. Now, DH & BIL have to move some furniture for MIL and they had agreed to do it next Saturday. DH & I have a wedding to go to tonight. I made special arrangements to drop the kids off a little earlier than needed, so DH & I could have some alone time. The kids will be dropped off at 2:00 and I had all these plans made. Now at 10:00am BIL calls and tells DH that he got the truck for today. Of course Im freaking out on DH telling him there is no way he is doing that today, but he agreed. The only glitch is BIL is still doing it and we have the keys to the place where the furniture is going. So, BIL & family will be stopping over some time today and they cannot give us a time(thats the norm for them!).
The best thing for us to do is to leave the keys in our mailbox for him, however this puts us in a position where we have to tell them not to come in the house, and of course explain why.
I am such a compulsive planner, and I had hoped for this to be such a special day, that this is really throwing me for a loop!

I hate when stuff like that happens! It kind of takes a little bit of joy and fun out of the time you planned alone, especially if you're still waiting for them by the time you drop the kids off. ACK! Stress for a time when you were planning on destressing! Not fair!!

Hopefully they'll want to get the job finished early, so they'll stop by early to pick up the keys.

That sounds like something a BIL would do just to ruin someones day they didn't care for all that much. I don't know if that is the situation but if it is just relax, put the keys in the mailbox and let him moving everything be his problem, you already had plans

I'd call now to let him know that the keys will be in the mail box and you and DH will be going for a LONG walk together, so if they ring and no one answers they will think your out walking.

It's a "little white lie" for Pete's sakes....nothing to feel guilty about, and it's better than having someone you don't really care to entertain ruin your time together.

We went with the mailbox thing. I dont know what exactly DH told BIL, but he said something like thats ok, we will be in a rush and probably wont have time to come in anyway. You can see how close BIL & DH are. This is almost comical...it reminds me of the episode of Everybody Loves Raymond when they try to get the family out of the house so they can "be alone" and then everyone knows what they are doing. Somehow its much funnier when its not happening to you, LOL!
Oh well, 1 hour until the kids are gone...and counting!
