Can I use Costco Card Card to help pay for a cruise?

We cruised late June and already received our Costco cash card in the mail! I was not expecting it to arrive that quickly!

We loved our cruise so much we did a placeholder. Can I use our costco cash card to help pay the deposit for our next cruise? We shop at costco, so I could easily spend the money, but I like the idea of using this large chunk of change to help directly lower the cost for our next cruise.

Anyone done this?

I have been told no. You can only use it for gas or the store items. I checked into it too. It seems like a great way to keep the cruises coming! . However, if you use it for gas, just set aside the money you would have used at the pump and put it into a future cruises jar. It’s essentially the same thing. Just takes a little more disciple.

From what I understand, you can't use it directly for a travel booking. You could potentially try asking Costco to give you the cash for the card (I don't think every warehouse will do this) or perhaps to cash out the balance of it.

We received $800 in Costco cards from our May cruise. I used the cards for our normal Costco monthly spending and put the cash I didn’t have to spend into our cruise fund. Same thing. Just do it yourself.

It's just accounting, really. If you normally would buy stuff at Costco, it frees up other cash.
