I have been reading on allears about upgrading and am trying to figure out if I can upgrade my old park hoppers. I have had them 3-4 years, 5-day park hoppers, non-expiring, you know the stiffer cardboard ones with Mickey and Donald on them. They have not been used. I would like to trade them for 10-day park hoppers, non-expiring. Any idea what I would pay - do I pay the difference in the current gate cost of the 5-day ticket and the 10-day ticket, which is a little over $100 according to their figures. Or do I pay the difference in what I paid for them and the current price? Please someone give me some idea of the cost before I go next week and use them. I understand that after I use them once, I cannot upgrade.??

Good question-I have one day left on non expiring from 02, they are the plastic ones. Plannning to use up the day when we go in 2 weeks. Was wondering if you can just put them in the machine like before or if we have to go somewhere to trade them in for a new tickets??

The rule is as I understand it you would pay the difference of what you paid to the new price. The best way and ONLY :rotfl2: way is to ask when you get to Disney either your hotel or Customer service in DTD or any of th eparks can help you!
I would say use them as is..
what you have is NOT a my way ticket so the same rules do not apply and the old rules were what you paid is what you got credit for and they do know aht you paid... if you bought it from one of the ticket sales places you only get what they paid.....

I can't answer the cost question but yes you can use your old tickets and put them thru the ticket thing at the turnstyle no problem. In August we used up days from 2000 tickets and also from 2004 no problems. worked for fast passes also.

If you decide to upgrade them, make sure you don't have any unused "plus" options. I thinky you would lose those since technically you didn't pay for them when you got the ticktet.

In Sept we were told you have to upgrade within 14 days of your first USE date. So, if you haven't used them you may be able to upgrade.

BUT, I believe you would only get credit for what you paid.

Partially used (pre-2005) park hopper tickets cannot be modified any more (effective Jan. '06 I guess) (but of course can be used up as-is).

The latest I am told is that partially used (post-2004) MYW tickets can be modified at a cost equal to the difference in price of what you want versus what you had, as shown above the ticket booths, provided expiration has not occurred.

There is at least one rumor going around that, if the MYW ticket has been used more than 13 days ago, you can add hopping and/or water park fun at the prices posted above the ticket booths, but not more days.

I paid around $200 for these park hoppers from AAA. So dollar-value, it would not be worth it to pay the difference in my price and the current price of a 10-day. Guess I will just use them out. Bummer - there is no free ride.
