Can I sell my original contract (and just keep add-ons)?

If a member buys direct from DVC with the 150/160-point minimum, and then adds on in smaller increments, can he or she sell the original contract even if the add ons total less than 150? Thanks!

Just did this. I could have, and almost did, do an add on for only 25 pts then sell the rest. But I ended up buying 100 (4*25) for the lower pp cost. I may sell one later and definitely plan to change the registration of one 25 pt contract such that it has my daughter and possibly other family members names on it for perk purposes.

I was told I needed to buy 100 points in 50 point contracts for the AKL discount. Was this incorrect? I wanted 25 point contracts to eventually sell one. Geez.

I'm curious too, can you buy and finace smaller (25 to 50 point) contracts through DVC or does it have to be through resale?

If you already have a contract you can buy any size over 25 points directly from Disney - for the sold out resorts you may have to go on a wait list. I think financing is only available at the 50 pt or higher level but am not certain if that is the cut off amount or not these days.

Only if you buy the minimum for a new purchase, now 160. It becomes a separate stand alone contract. But you can buy, THEN change the title for as little as around $50. That is the route we will be taking it appears. DVC knew this up front and had the opportunity to do all 100 points with the different ownership as compared to changing only 1 25 pt contract later. We'll end up with 75 pts in one contract and 25 is a totally separate contract. A HA for DVC I'm sure but they made their choice and must live with it. I don't really care one way or another on this end other than I will have a couple of people on the contract that are not now.

You were told incorrectly unless you were financing.
