we are still on the fence about doing the dining plan. I need to make adr's for the sit down places i know we will eat....and i may decide to add dining when we check in.

When i make the adr's they ask if you are on the dining plan right? What if I am not not, but will be then??

As far as I know, ADRs are not connected to your room reservation or package, dining plan or otherwise. So it should not be a problem.

I just made my ADR for Easter Sunday and the rest of the week. We just booked our vacation last week and since this is a very busy week, I did not want to sign up for DDP if I could not get ADR's.:confused3

So now that I got every ADR I requested for the week, I will add DDP to our reservation.

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think you can add DDP on at check in. I think it has to be added before your arrival. Not sure about the minimum days but 5 days is coming to mind.

I often make my ADRs before I even have my hotel decision made. I can't take advantage of the 180+10 perk that way, but since ADRs are harder to come by than rooms at the times of year we travel, I get them planned out ASAP.

However, you cannot add dining at check-in. I don't recall what the deadline is, but I know it has to be done in advance (5 days? a week? - something like that).

ETA: When they ask if you're on the dining plan when you make ADRs, it is just so they can inform you of the DDP policies - whether the restaurant is one or two credits, etc. it doesn't make any real difference, and it doesn't matter if your DDP status changes after making the ADRs.

I just made my dining plans for our intended May 27 - June 2 trip (thread on restaurant board) and I haven't booked our room or the dining plan as of yet. I intend to do so at the beginning of the year however. You can do this, but if you plan to book a dinner show, you will have to either wait until you book the Dining plan or prepay your tickets.
