Can I book a birthday party dinner at Boma for 20 ppl? (I currently have reservations at Jiko's but I'm thinking I could save ~40-50% if I downgrade reservations to Boma.) Will they take reservations for a party that large at Boma? Anybody ever have a big group reservation at Boma? If so, how did it work? Basically the idea is to get the extended family together to celebrate DH's b'day; not to spend a fortune. Do you think Boma will be just as effective for a party as Jiko (Understanding, of course, that it is NOT a signature restaurant.)

At one of our meals at Boma, there was a huge party right in the center of the restaurant. Two long tables - people were kinda overflowing from one table to the other. They weren't in the way because there where so many other ways to get up to the buffet. I don't think Boma would mind at all. Boma is a more open, busy type place, with Jiko being a more quiet, laidback type place.

I think you'd have more fun at Boma, BUT!!!!! the food at Jiko is wonderful!

thanks! We're probably talking about a $600 difference by selecting Boma over Jikos so that's weighing heavily in my decision.

anyone else? should I change to Boma from Jiko (price matters)?

We had a party of 12 there President's week. I don't think it would be a problem at all. I think it would be a perfect place for a large party. They have such a great selection of delicicious foods. Something for everyone including picky eaters. It is one of our favorites!!!!!
