Can I go from Cont. to Ft. Wilderness by boat?

Hi,
The last time we went to the Hoo Dee Doo, we parked at Ft. Wilderness then took their internal bus - waited a long time for the bus, there wasn't anyone there to ask if it was the right bus, no maps posted and it was just an all-around semi-confusing time.

We'll be staying at Pop Century and would like to go to the petting zoo, pony rides and dinner at Trail's End. Can we park at the Contemporary (or Wilderness Lodge?) and take the boat over? I thought this would be nicer, and my son loves boats.

Is the dock at Ft. Wilderness close to Pioneer Hall and the petting zoo? How often do the boats run? Do you think this would take a lot longer than the park and bus route?

Thanks!
Linda

You could park at the TTC and then take the monorail or ferry to MK. There you could take the boat to FW.

You could also take the monorail from the TTC to CR and then take the boat.

Or you could park at the TTC and catch the FW/WL bus.

The first two options would take longer than the internal bus, I think, but would be a lot more fun!

In general, I know they try to reserve hotel parking for guests of the hotel or for folks who are dining there.

The FW boat dock is just a 3-5 minute walk from Pioneer Hall, but one thing you may want to consider is that I believe the boats stop running fairly early. As a result, you may be able to get TO FW from MK by boat, but not get BACK to the MK.

When we were there in November we took the boat from MK to the HDDR, but after the show we had to take the internal buses to Outpost, then take a bus from Outpost to DTD and from there catch a bus to CBR. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great.

Internal buses at Fort Wilderness run from the Outpost Depot (main parking lot) to the Settlement Depot (Pioneer Hall) about every 10 minutes. (Typically, on the :10 minute mark) Any one of the internal buses (Yellow, Orange or Purple) will get you there. Just look for the word "SETTLEMENT/__(color)__" on the destination sign. Typical ride is only 5 minutes. Buses run until 2:00am.

Parking at the Contemporary might be a bit tricky. I know right now they are allowing guests with confirmed dinner reservations ONLY. There is a boat that runs between the CR and FW... it runs about every 20 minutes until about 10:00, nightly.

I'm figuring the Contemp parking would be tight, too. We just dined at the Poly this week, and we had to tell them we had a PS and they issued us a parking permit that was only good for a couple of hours. If you park elsewhere, you won't have to worry about hurrying back by a specific time.
