Can I get points back?

i have a trip scheduled at Boardwalk in June. I booked it at 11 months with my boardwalk points. The entire time booked isn't available but 4 nights are. Can member services book the nights that are still available with my Saratoga springs points and give me back my Boardwalk points? I have some banked ssr points that id love to use instead and get my Boardwalk points back. Is it possible?

From what I understand if you are now inside the 7 month window they can move points around. I just moved some 2015 points to a march reservation because I cancelled part of a January reservation, thus opening my 2016 points to be able to bank. You do not have to rebook, but you need to watch your points closely to make sure they do it right

no, you cannot "move points around" if the goal is to defeat the 11 month home resort window (as stated in the OP). you could only rebook what is available not counting the nights that you already have booked - if there is other availability, fine...but if the first night is booked up, it should not be possible.
 
OP, I would call MS to see what they can do. Over the years there have been many different answers to this scenario posted. As long as you are within the 7 month window there might be a chance. What do you have to lose? Call!
 
i just might try. I'm not trying to beat any system and just hoping I can get some points back from rooms that still have availability currently to book. the problem is that i can't do it on my own since they are middle of the reservation days

I also think it's worth a call.
 
Since the entire trip (June '16) is now inside of the 7 month window, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be possible. In fact, you could book the available nights with your SSR points online, and then call and request that the duplicate nights booked with BWV points be cancelled. Unless I'm missing something, DVC has always allowed cancellation of select nights within a reservation.

It would be different if you were trying to do it right at 7 months with certain nights not being available. But since the entire trip is only 5.5 - 6.5 months away, seems like DVC should have no objections to booking available nights with non-Home points.

What they will not (should not) allow is moving the nights which are fully booked to the SSR points. You cannot use Home resort points to book a high-demand accommodation which normally fills before the 7 month window, and then later switch that reservation to another set of points. That would be considered a manipulation of the home resort booking rights.

Book what's available, wait list the other days then cancel the BWV. Historically they have been able to drop days on the ends or even in the middle but the last few years this doesn't seem to have been an option though the last time I went to break a reservation apart to rent a portion and use a portion, I didn't have any problems. You could even try to cancel and rebook the 2 days with your SSR points if you wanted but it might or might not work out since they've gotten a little better (? how much) at directing those to the wait list.
