Can I get a replacement candy apple?

OP, instead of asking for a new $5 apple, what is your dentist going to say after you posted multiple times about pulling out fillings and crowns? :)

Thank you! This is what I am talking about--a red candy apple.

So, I am from NC--hot and humid. I buy 2-3 candy apples once in a while at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I bring them home and store them at room temp and I have never had them get soft and gooey by the next day. Now, if you put them in the fridge, it does something to the coating and it almost melts. As far as them being in DQ, it was 70 or so in there and it was only in the low 80's outside.

Anyway, I didn't plan to bring the defective apple with me:rotfl: I just planned on bringing the receipt and asking at the main street shop to see if they are usually gooey like that at WDW. I believe it's the first time I've ever bought one there and I will not be buying more if that's the norm. I seriously would have pulled a crown off if I had eaten it. And those things are messy too, so I would not walk around eating one.
If this is the case, then no ... I can't imagine Disney refunding your money or giving you a new apple. As far as they know, you bought the apple, ate the apple, loved the apple and are now trying to get one for free. Or maybe you just found a candy apple receipt on the ground and decided to try and get one for nothing. From Disney's standpoint (or any other business, really), if you're claiming that a product is defective, they want to see the product.

You could certainly still go into the Confectionary and ask about the candy coating, but if you truly want your money back and don't have the apple as proof, then the only chance you stand (IMO) is to go back to the shop you bought it at and talk to them.

Personally ... I'd chalk it up as a bad purchase and move on. Wouldn't waste any more time on this when there are rides to ride and shows to see! :goodvibes

Disney doesn't care about a 10$ apple that maybe cost them $2 to make. They care about making guests happy. If a guest came in with a receipt and a valid complaint they would fix the problem, not accuse them of lying and deny them a candy apple.

I purchased a watch from Disney, arrived home to find the watch was broken. They asked for a copy of my receipt and sent me a new watch. They asked that I send the old one back when I got the new one. That watch was $100. I didn't have to provide any other proof than the receipt and I got a new watch. They had no idea if I actually had the broken watch or found the receipt on the ground.

Strange every red-candy apple I've ever had has been gooey. It's mainly why I'm not crazy about them. A hard candy that cracks when you eat them sounds good... But I have to admit I wouldn't have expected it to be any different.

Sounds from all accounts freshness is the issue. I've probably never had a truly fresh one. Also sounds like part of the fault was on the OPs part for not eatting it fresh.

They are going to say Goody!!! and call up their spouse and say go ahead and book that Disney trip, I see a bunch of business coming my way!:cool1:

I used to work in a candy shop. Try sticking it in the fridge for 10-20 minutes and that should take care of it.

Take the apple with you and they will give you a new one. I had this happen to me also, but at the Main Street bakery. I bought a caramel apple and walked down to tommorrowland bridge to eat and couldn't even bite into it. The caramel was sooo hard, not gooey at all. I walked back to the bakery, gave them my receipt and apple and they kindly gave me a new one. They did ask me to test the caramel though before I left to make sure it was gooey!

Candy apples should be very hard and crisp, the candy should break when you bite into it. I have gotten many from fairs over the years and always refrigerate it overnight and it is till hard the next day, but they are best when eaten within 24 hours.

Yes, but presumably you did actually send the old one back, so you did in fact return it. Plus ... I'm thinking that you probably paid for the $100 watch with a credit card, so it'd be pretty easy to track who you were and whether or not you had a $100 watch in the first place.

but the point I'm trying to make is they don't know that I had the watch and they sent me a new one with just the receipt proof.

I assumed the OP meant a red candy apple- the ones that have a shiny red coating that is crunchy..do they sell these though?

Would I myself ever ask for a new apple, no, but I'm betting that a company that replaces your dropped ice cream with no issue would replace it just because they have good customer service. Although, I probably would bring the bad apple with me and I would also ask in my nicest tone. And, to the OP or whoever doesn't like to watch people eat caramel or candy apples in public because it's gross, just ask them to cut it up for you. I do this every time and it's much more pleasant for me and apparently, the public at large.

Yes, but again ... unless you paid with cash, they are also able to track that purchase via your credit card. All they need is the receipt to match it to the charge.

But either way, I still submit that you'd be a little less likely to get a refund by walking into a shop and saying, "I didn't like the candy apple I bought two days ago from a totally different location and so I'd like to get a new one for free from you now, please."

I could be wrong.

I work at Disney currently, right next door to Goofys sometimes, and if you bring it in and explain, they will give you a new one.
Just ask. If there is a problem, just ask for a manager and there will be no problem.

Agreed. The only place where this is an actual problem is here on the DIS

Well, the OP did ask the Dis, right? She didn't just go back and ask at the store, where she could get a real answer!:rotfl2:
