Can I brag a little?

I've talked to our legal department and their answer is yes. Yes, you can brag a little. Certain limitations and restrictions apply, please see our disclaimer for full details.

Mike - you've got every reason to brag, that's awesome! What a great experience for your Grandfather. We're losing WWII vets at a rapid rate, we need to show them respect and give them appreciation for what they went through.

Mike, please pass along my thanks to your grandfather, too. I donated money to the program in honor of my wonderful brother in law who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and hoped to take him one day but he passed away before he got to see the Memorial. I'm so glad your grandfather got to see it! It certainly is awesome. I so much appreciate what your grandfather and all the other veterans did for us.

That is so awesome Mike...thanks for sharing!

We have the same program here in AVL.....Jon got to attend the celebration when the vets came back from DC....he got to wave a flag and cheer. It was really a wonderful moment....

Thank you, Mike, for sharing such a sweet story... it brings tears to my eyes. My grandfather would have turned 87 on 9/28/09, had he lived, and he was a vet as well, serving in the Pacific Theater.

My Dad will be 84 on October 25th (I was a surprise baby!!). He is a WWII vet and he doesn't have fond memories of being in the war. I would love to someday go to DC and see all the memorials. I do try to thank the vets around here when I see them out and about.

The weirdest thing is that one day I was looking for some material in my parent's basement and found this red cloth. I asked my Mom if I could use it and she told me to go ask my Dad. What I found out was that it was part of a Nazi flag that Dad brought home from the war. They had removed the swastika and folded it up in a drawer. It has bullet holes in it. It was very weird holding a piece of history in my hands in the basement of a Chicago two-flat.

Thats so wonderful!!! What a great man! I am glad he got to have this experience, he deserves it!

Hi Mike,

Congratulations! Please, please pass along our heartfelt appreciation to him for us. My wife and I are strong supporters of this program with our efforts and resources.

We share your pride as my father served as an Officer in WWII under General Patton, and our oldest daughter is currently a Surgeon in an Army Combat Hospital.

Thanks so much for sharing his story!

HOOAH!

Great story and organization. Please do let us know how we can contribute to this wonderful organization. I am fortunate to live in the DC area and drive past the memorial several times a week. It is always very busy and in my opinion the most beautiful memorial on the mall. Thank your grandfather for fighting for our and others freedom. My hat goes off to everyone who has and is serving in the military. We owe them a lot.

This was such a sweet story. You make me a sap. I plan on spreading this organization on to everybody I know. I'm all for supporting anybody who has or is serving our country. My sincere thanks.
