Can I Avoid SWW??

So, I was planning on not going to HS at all during the SWW, but rather going right in the middle of the week. My sister really wants to see F! - so we booked a dinner package.

Here's the thing - my two boys are really starting to get into Star Wars. I figure if we go in the middle of the week I can try and get them signed up for the Jedi Training thing - and the new Star Tours ride will be going.

I know we'll be back, my husband isn't going with on this trip (he likes Star Wars) - so really, I don't need to take them during the weekend, right? They'll get "enough" star wars stuff - that'll all be new to them.

And don't you think that the Jedi Training thing might be a little less crowded since it's NOT the weekend?

That is my plan too. My boys are really into SW right now but the younger one hates any costumed characters and they honestly don't care about the actors. It seems like these are the main focus of the weekends

I think their chances of getting signed up for the Jedi Academy will be greater mid-week since all the diehard fans will wait for the weekend events

Your chances of getting them signed up mid-week versus during a SWW is MUCH greater, but you probably still need to go early in the day to get signed up. We went to a SWW last May and lined up during AM EMH to get our boys signed up from JT. Within an hour of the park officially opening they were telling people that they had all slots filled from JT. If your kids are into Star Wars between Star Tours, Jedi Training and Tatooine Traders your kids will have fun. If you want them to see a really great Star Wars parade and be able to get autographs and pictures with Star Wars characters (not the celebrities that played them in the movies & shows) then go during the actual SWW. And during the actual SWW they have a great Hyperspace Hoopla Star Wars character dance off that is great.

Do they did their tickets to sign up for JT? I was planning on "walking very quickly" to TSM! to get fastpasses for our group while my mom and sister took the boys to sign up for JT. If they get to the sign up within 30 minutes of park opening they should get a spot?

SWW sounds very cool, but I think we'll avoid it and go mid-week. Our hollywood day needs to have the F! show for my sister and I do not want to mix SWW and F!

Well, you have to have the ticket to get into the park and the child MUST be in line in order to get signed up for Jedit Training. If you are going on a non-SWW day and get there within 30-120 minutes of opening they should still get a spot.

Okay - so if we all enter the park together - I take the tickets and my mom/sister take the boys to sign up we should be fine. They will love it!

Yep, you'll be fine. DH usually heads to get FPs for TSM while I take our young Padawans to get signed up for Jedi Training. Works great.

It will still be busy - as a lot of people do the exact thing you're doing for the exact reasons you're doing it. Last year they weren't doing the sign up sheet during the week - just during the weekends. It was so crowded the day we signed DS up for it that DH basically politely challenged the CM running the line as to "why" they couldn't just do the sign up sheet. There were more than enough kids in line to fill the days shows as it was. After a couple of phone calls the guy came out with the sign up sheet. We went straight at opening and made it into the 11/12 ish show. Can't remember the exact time, but it was the 3rd show I think.

Its nuts on SWW, but they have more shows too. I will say this - make sure your kids are WELL hydrated. Between the robes and the total lack of shade, DS looked like a lobster just from being hot - not sunburned. It honestly concerned me a bit. He had a blast though.

Where do you go to sign up for the Jedi Training? My little guy would LOVE it!

Not sure where exactly it'll be once Star Tours opens back up but during a SWW last year (Memorial Day Weekend 2010) it was by the Sounds Dangerous attraction. Last week and November 2010 it was where the Star Tours que is. If heading there first thing in the morning head towards Sounds Dangerous and that'll help you avoid the TSM mob and if the sign up line isn't there just continue on to the Star Tours area.
