Can anyone tell me the value of?

If you haven't already listed it I'd wait until Sunday evening. Sunday evenings have always been my best time to list a 7 day auction. I agree with some of the other posters.....don't use Buy It Now...maybe use a Reserve though since it is a collectible.

Since eBay has been running into glitches pretty consistently on Sunday evenings - preventing people from doing searches or placing last minute bids - I have switched most of my endings to Monday evenings and Thursday evenings.. So far it has worked out quite well for me.. Just another option to consider..;)

I have been leery about jumping into ebay too. Maybe someone can give us a tutorial?

I am afraid that people will just "want something for nothing" like they do at a garage sale -- which I don't have anymore for that reason. Imagine giving something away for like 25 cents just to get rid of it even though it should be worth so much more, and they still try to bargain down the price!

It wasn't worth it, so now we just give to charity. Some things I haven't wanted to part with unless I can get a good price, however. For instance, I thought I could offer some Disney pins one time, but I did not find anything on the ebay search that would indicate I could even get as much as I paid for them.

I have wondered whether ebay is like garage sales in that most people don't make a lot of money and only a few brag about how much they made. There's no way to know for sure.

On ebay, wouldn't you still be stuck paying a fee just to post the item, with the fee increasing the higher your set price is, even if no one matches your set price? Also, if you don't have a "user rating" or whatever it's called, will people still bid on your item? DH's brother said "buy things first to build up a rating," but I don't feel the need to buy things on ebay!

Plus I guess we'd have to get set up on Paypal, find out about shipping costs, etc.

There's a good stand-alone thread over on the Budget Board that covers most of the basics for you if you're interested..

When I first started (and started the original "Ebay Your Way To Disney" thread on the BB) I was pretty much a fledgling myself and I think I had 1 feedback from a purchase I had made months prior to that.. However, once I started listing things my lack of feedback had no impact on my sales whatsoever.. I just made sure I went that extra mile in the beginning - emails, shipping the day after an item was sold, emailing to say it was on it's way, etc.. Before I knew it the glowing feedbacks were coming in like crazy and I developed a very good reputation as a seller..

It's been awhile now and I have revised the way I do business because of time restraints, but I still have a 100% rating because I do my best to keep my customers happy.. The emails may not be as frequent and I normally only ship twice a week now, but my buyers are still thrilled with the service they get.. Everyone was "new" at some point and many buyers will take a chance on you if you are very clear in your auctions of what the item is, give accurate descriptions, don't try to "hide" any flaws, and state your buying and shipping terms clearly and up front..

You really should try it.. I bought a 10-cent plastic bus bank in a garage sale and sold it on eBay for $12.. Could you sell that same item for $12 in a garage sale? Never!

Give it a try - you might be pleasantly surprised!::yes::

It really works! I also put a listing for a small chrome Robby the Robot from that movie Forbidden Planet, that my boyfriend has had since the early 90's. He got it for free as a sample when he owned a store that sold things like that and after the store closed, he just had it stuffed in a closet. Anyway, that sold for $45. Amazing.

I hope you feel better!
