Can anyone tell me about the Trail's End Buffeteria?

Does it serve food all day? How bad are the crowds? This sounds like a nice possibility for lunch one day while we're at MK. Is the boat to Fort Wilderness somewhere around the ferry? Thanks!

In September they closed for a few hours between lunch and dinner...I cannot remember the exact time though.

We caught the boat to FT. Wilderness from MK near where the ferry docks.

We had a nice lunch - sandwich bar, soup and salad bar, a couple hot dishes, apple crisp for dessert. There were no crowds at all, but as I mentioned above, the restaurant closed while we were there (we were allowed to finish and they kept the buffet set up, but new people were not allowed in).

Check out the menu on at http://wdwig.com/menu/menu_teb.htm Although it may vary a bit it has the times when they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It doesn't seem to get crowded much. The food is good and a great value.

TEB is next to Pioneer Hall, a short walking distance from the FW marina. You can always make a PS if you'd like. The boat to FW also goes to WL. It is toward the left of the monorail when you're exiting the MK. You can even take the resort monorail to CR and take the boat to FW from there as well. The direct boat is probably quicker.

Wow, it's been a while since wdwig updated that menu but it's good to have the hours. If I remember right from a few trips to River Country (RIP :( ), the barnyard is just behind Pioneer Hall. Sounds like a keeper. :)

Does anyone know if french fries are included in the buffet?

I've never seen french fries on the buffet and I've been many times. Also, unless they have started in the last year Trail's End does not accept Priority Seating. I've never waited for lunch or breakfast. Once in a while we've waited ten or fifteen minutes for dinner. Food is good and the price (for Disney) can't be beat. You can also walk around the petting farm while you wait. There is a playground for the children as well.

I was wondering if I can make an evening of FW.....can someone help me out as to whether this is possible?

Arrive around 4.....go to petting zoo (is there something else there?)

Eat dinner at Trails End 5 - 6 o'clock.

Movie/Campfire - what time is this?

Electrical Water Parade - what time does it pass FW.

AND are all these things walkable to each other-how much time do I need to allot to this walking?

Thanks - going to be there for 3 days alone with the 4 kids until hubby joins up with us and I thought this might be something nice to do.

We have gone to Trail's End on our last day the past few trips. We have lunch and then enjoy walking around the camp grounds. The food is always good and priced well.

Vellamint- I love the idea of a FW night. I believe the movie/campfire show is at 7 or 8 depending on the time of year.
The petting zoo, the marina (where you would watch EWP), and the Trails' End are all within walking distance. The movie area is a bus ride away, but only a few minutes. I believe the EWP passes by FW around 9:30-9:45 ish. Others may be more sure, or you can look it up on wdwig.com
Have a great time at FW!!! Ren

Can I drive into FW (staying at POR) and park anywhere near the petting zoo, Trails End....and am I allowed to drive to Movie area or is that strictly a bus?

Thanks!!

You can drive to the Fort Wilderness parking lot, and catch a bus to the marina/Pioneer Hall area. Or, you can take the boat from the Magic Kingdom.

An evening at FW is great! You can visit the petting zoo, have dinner at the Trail's End, see the campfire program, and get back to the marina by 9:30 for the Electral Water Pageant! If it's timed right, you can also watch the MK fireworks! You get a beautiful view from the FW beach!

You can walk from Pioneer Hall to the campfire program - it's about a 10-12 minute walk. Or, you can catch a bus. We prefer to walk - it's very nice, and you'll encounter peacocks and armadillos usually while you're walking! :)

Is the walk between Pioneer Hall & the campfire program clearly marked? Or is there a place where I can pick up a map? If we do this, I'm pretty sure we'll take the bus (with a 2 yo) but you never know!

Just ask a CM to point you in the right direction. It's just straight down one street until you get to the Meadows Trading Post. Then, follow the music (and the people!)

An evening at FW sounds like fun especially since MK will be closing early when we go in March. But what if we don't have a car? I suppose that we could take a bus from FW to Downtown Disney and from there catch a bus or boat to PORS where we'll be staying. This might just take a while though. :) Where do the buses pick people up at FW and how would we get around?
