Can and do people visit with characters when there are no children in their party?

Last time we went to Disney it was before we had kids. DH and I did not get in any lines for characters, as we felt bad, making little kids wait longer. We even purposely avoided rides like Dumbo, Alladin, etc, as we knew those rides were geared towards young children and didn't want to make them wait longer. We did go on peter pan, pooh etc but only because they were walk ons, otherwise we wouldn't have.

Another thread got me thinking. Do people actually wait in line and visit with characters when they are adults and have no kids in their group?

I know at our local amusement park, most of the rides in the kid zone adults cannot even ride unless they have a child with them. This helps cut down on lines, and those who the rides are meant for, kids, don't have to wait as long.

Can you visit with characters if you are just adults? And do people actually do that?

Yes we did. We love the characters. Just a few of our fav's and we did most character meals. it makes us feel like kids again you can never get to old for disney

Yes, they do. You can even ride Dumbo without a child if you want.

I went last March for my senior in college spring break and my best friend and I did!

To be honest, we did get some dirty looks from parents with young children in line behind us :confused3 ... but who cares!!!! Sometimes people feel entitled because they have small children with them... but we're all the same paying customers :)

Totally! The highlight of my trip last year was seeing Pooh and Eeyore!

Wow it would never occur to me to avoid certain rides at WDW because it would make the wait longer for kids...

Disney was designed for all ages- and heck your ticket cost more than a childs- you should never feel guilty for waiting for Dumbo or waiting to see a character.

YES! :goodvibes

Disney is the place where everyone can feel like a kid. Enjoy the characters!

I *have* a small child, and I think if you want to ride ANY ride or see ANY character, you are more than welcome to get into line and do it. I would not feel at all like you were taking up time that "should have been for kids". You are a guest, those are attractions and experiences within the park, and if you will enjoy them, I believe you should.

Walt Disney's concept of the parks stemmed partially from his frustration that it seemed there was nowhere he could take his kids where they could all enjoy things together. The attractions in the parks are designed for all ages to enjoy. I would never tell someone they should move aside so my child doesn't have to wait for other people who don't happen to be kids. Those attractions and experiences in the parks were designed for all of us. :)

I don't know about everyone else but when I go to WDW I always feel like a "kid" again, so I have no problem what so ever waiting in line with the other kids.

I have never felt guilty about getting in lines for character pictures. That is part of the disney fun. I love having my pictures with characters and I am 30. If anything adults are super fast in character lines. No autograph books, just smile for the picture and move on!!

ITA!!! I push my own children out of the way when it comes meeting characters!:rotfl:

For me, that's the beauty of Walt Disney World. It's completely open to everyone. The only time something is off-limits is if there is a safety concern, like with height restrictions on roller coasters.

My and DH are in our 50's and YES we stand in lines for characters and still do character meals. Thats one of the things we love so about Disney. You are never too old to act silly with them..we love it

We are planning on our 2nd Adult's only trip. We seem to have a better time with the characters. Either at meals or at photo/autograph points. :hippie:

My son who just turned 11, knows when we go to AK and we see Jiminy he has to wait his turn until DAD is done taking pics. I always get pics with my favs. My wife actually had all the other Villians leave Maleficent at the MNSSHP a few years ago as she is her fav and didn't want anyone else in the pic.

The characters and most guests understand Disney is for all ages.

:thumbsup2

Well, there are a couple of things that are age restricted - the Wonderland tea party is for children only, and no one under 10 can eat at Victoria & Albert's or under 21 can go to Jellyrolls. Can't think of any others though.

Heck yes I wait in line for rides and meet-and-greets! The meet-and-greets are one of my favorite aspects about going to the World. I paid my way in, I can go on the rides I want to go on without any guilt of making any of the kids wait.
