My cubicle mate has a 20 gig hard drive, with only Quickbooks and AOL and some documents on there and the darn hard drive is FULL!! Does anyone know what might explain this???

Thanks!!

Did you try to clear temporary internet files? While I can't imagine that would take up the whole drive it could take a lot.

I'd really have to see it to know...

Yes, we did try that. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. We have called our network guy, but we were trying to do what we could in the meantime!!

I've heard of a virus that replicates some junk file until your hard drive is full.

Do you have Windows XP? If one of the programs you have put on is not XP compatible it can cause your hard drive to fill up. This happened to us. We could not understand where all of our memory had gone on a brand new computer. In our case we ended up starting all over again and have made sure that everything that goes on the computer is XP compatible.

Actually, damo, this computer runs on Windows ME. And Barry, that is what Iam suspecting, because even if I free up a bit of space, it fills right back up and I mean RIGHT BACK UP.

We have only been using this computer since December. No way it should be full.

Thanks for the responses.

My computer runs on windows Me too.

I have a virus on the hard drive that I can't get rid of. I've followed the instructions on how to get rid of it and after deleting from the recycle bin too all looks well but it isn't. When I check to see if the virus is gone, the file appears again.

How do you clear temporary internet files? or what should I do to get rid of it?

I don't know much about computers except the important stuff like checking e-mails and logging onto the DIS.

It could definitely be a virus...
what virus do you have disney funseeker?

To get rid of temp files, I go to Start, Search, For Files or Folders, then type in *.tmp. I just found 10MB there now, and I just cleard them 10 days ago.

The virus I have is called jdbgmgr.exe

Apparently it's not detected by Norton or Mcafee. I got it because I was on my friends address book.

You don't have a virus, that is a hoax. There isn't any virus that norton or mcaffee can't detect after a day or two. If you ever see any statements to the contrary you can pretty well guess it is a hoax.
Here is the info

Virus Hoax

WebmasterAlex,

I have learned my lesson. From now on I will seek answers from you, oh great knowledgeable one, immediately.

Whew, what a relief, no real virus. I'm going to run out and get the Norton 2003 anti-virus this week especially since there's some problem with my present one.

Thank you very much!

Good idea! And remember, you should also call your friend you think you got this virus from and let them know it's not a virus.
