Hi
Can any one advise me if you hire a travel trailer do you need a premium site at the fort?
We are in process of hiring a hybrid lite for 3 weeks in middle of June there are only two of us, but I wonder if we could cope with the bed for that long, only on say the 1500 or 2000 loop to keep costs down
Just wondering if we hired a travel trailer with a proper bed in if this would be better we are both in our mid 50's so not spring chickens.
I know the premium site would cost us about $400 extra
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
I do love camping, but we are coming from Uk so can't possibly bring all our camping gear and the heat would wear us down

we have a starcraft21sso hybrid what we do is put an air matress and a topper on that then we put the matress from that bed on the back bed for the kids I sleep fine.

Beds on a hybrid camper are the same as they are in a popup camper. The stock mattresses are not very comfortable. I have a popup and my sleep improved when I added a 2" Memory Foam mattress topper (thicker is better but more expensive).

Here is an example (1.5"): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sleep-Innovations-2-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper/17252262 If you can get to a Walmart at the start of your visit here this would be worth it. Make sure you buy an all-Memory Foam topper (some cheap imitations have only a thin layer on one side). Real Memory Foam is tightly compacted when sold and it takes about a day to fully puff up. Also initially there is usually a slight odor but it should pass within a day.

With a good topper (and air conditioning) you should sleep just fine for 3 weeks in June. No need to upgrade your trailer rental or the site type.

PS - I have seen hybrids in loops 1500 and 2000. Keep in mind that they have no sewer hookup so any dish- or shower- water will have to go to the trailer's gray water holding tank (not your problem but whoever sets it up should flip the valve to run the gray water to the tank and not out the sewer line). The camper's toilet can hold a limited amount but may have to be emptied during your visit of 3 weeks. Of course, if you use the Comfort Station bathrooms then that won't be an issue. As long as your trailer has some canvas on it (your hybrid will have it on the bunk ends) you should be able to stay in those less expensive Partial loops.

There are 2 other categories with sewer other than premium. They are full and preferred. The full is the cheaper of the 2.

Thankyou for your help we will be able to get to Walmart and get a memory foam topper, 3 weeks is a long time if you can't get a good nights rest

As long as your trailer has some canvas on it (your hybrid will have it on the bunk ends) you should be able to stay in those less expensive Partial loops.

This is good to know - I am considering purchasing a Livin Lite Camplite 16DB (i.e. camper box length = 16') with optional tip-out bunk (same as one end of a pop-up camper).

Sounds like I may be able to stay in the partial hook-up/tent loops with such a camper if need be, so long as I get the tip-out bunk option. It may turn out that I can't do such a thing - I'll contact Fort Wilderness sometime to confirm as it would be nice to have the option of staying with such a camper in the tent loops if the other loops are full during a busy season.

Ooh, do I have camper envy! I told Scott Tuttle at Livin Lite that I was waiting for them to build an A-frame camper. Alas, he said they have no plans to do so and I would have to go for a Camplite (which won't fit in the garage!). Since I have no funds at present anyway, I'll just drool and dream (especially about the 16DB...does it have the tip out bunk option? I thought that was only for the 16BHB?).

Hi JanL, I also thought the 16DB did not come with a tip-out bunk option, then I saw this for sale from a vendor of Livin Lite products:

The photos for the above 16DB show all of the regular stuff you would see on a 16DB on the Livin Lite Web site, but this model available for sale also includes a tip out bunk! I was very happy to see that.

I too am not sure which way to go with a camper - pop-up or Camplite. As with you, I would like to fit the camper in my garage, which would limit me to a pop-up camper.

I wanted non-canvas so I can camp in bear country and also to have a bit more security. That said, I am renting a pop-up in August when my club camps at FW.

We have a travel trailer but my inlaws have a hybrid. It only has fold out beds but can be left turtled in the event there is inclement weather or just no desire to mess with the canvas. The dining area turns into a large bed. It is a Jayco. Just another option
