I am new to these boards and have already found them very helpful. My husband and i would love to go camping at FW, but we need to know is it better to camp in May or in September? Please keep in mind that we will be tent camping. Thanks for all your help.

We drove thru FW last Sept and it was deserted. We were not staying, but visiting friends. Lots of loop maintenance going on and some loops were closed, but it was like a ghost town.

I don't know if this is standard for Sept but I would sure think you could get a preffered site at this time.

We used to like going in May and Oct but I think Sept is our new favorite time in the fall.

In May we won't be quite up to the high heat and humidity settings that are the worst in July/Aug. In September things start to cool off a little but may still be uncomfortable for tent camping. My vote would be for May.

I would suggest that you bring a box fan with you if you decide to tent camp at any time during the summer or fall months. Better to have it any not need it.

Crowds may be heavier in May due to the kids being out of school and families getting their summer vacations rolling. By September the kids will be back in the classrooms and FW should be more quiet.
